Personally I wasn't hyped about this because we know and have seen so little about it. BUT what this speculative news does question is exactly how close the next gen really is. This is the first bit of info that genuinely made me question my 2013 stance ................ but I'll still stick to it. The other evidence and logic is just too sound.

Microsoft has a contest to send two people to CES this year. They've advertised it on their Xbox facebook page.

Additionally Spike TV is broadcasting Microsofts CES keynote, and G4 will be there as well with Geoff Keighly (or however you spell it)

Those two things sold me on this whole launching in 2012 deal. Plus it just seems like the timing is right.

Send 2 people to CES, Spike TV broadcasting, G4 with GK??

Is this all confirmed news? If so then it only confirms those rumors!

Very vague without arising too much suspicion. I cant wait now. The links even said the original Xbox made an appearance in 2001 so its more then possible.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Crytek is taking their sweet time with this game. I was really anticipating Ryse this year for the 360, but if it gets delayed again and/or pushed for next gen I would be kinda upset. I understand wanting more IP's for next gen, but when a game is teased two years now for the 360 it's annoying.

They moved development to another studio, that usally slows down development and with the next Xbox arround the corner I am sure it made sense  to delay it for it to be a launch title. New IPs usally do better on new hardware as people usally want new experiances with their hardware and there is less choice as well.

Check out my hype threads: Cyberpunk, and The Witcher 3!

Why do people continue to believe that the "NextBox" will not only be unveiled at CES or E3, but officially announced for release in 2012 as well?

M$ just did gangbusters with 360 sales during BF week, the momentum of which will continue on through the holidays and well into next year, and every single major title slated for next year has already been announced for current gen systems... Mass Effect 3, Bioshock Infinite, Halo 4, the next COD, just to name a few.

Oh, a little game known as GRAND THEFT AUTO V!

So why in the world would Microsoft launch a new console against an epic lineup of AAA games like that for its current console and jeopardize the momentum they've got going for the 360? Fall 2013 at the earliest, so stop getting your collective panties all wet over incredibly bad rumors supposedly pointing to a 2012 launch.

And if anyone dares say that M$ is going to pull a "Twilight Princess" with Halo 4 as your argument in favor of a 2012 launch, I will personally come to your home and bitch slap the shit out of you.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

i'm actually pretty happy with this move. Kinect's current state makes it only good for dance games and simple games. Hopefully kinect 2.0 will be better at detecting movement and have less lag. I couldnt see ryse being anything but a disappointment with current kinect tech. Now I still have hope.

I'm just curious, what makes you so sure that Microsoft won't pull a "Twilight Princess" with Halo 4?

Because why would they?  The whole reason Nintendo did what they did with TP was because the GC was dying, and the Wii had essentially the same hardware as the GC just slightly more powerful, so they purposely held TP back a year and tacked on motion controls for the Wii launch.  The 360 on the other hand has sold nearly triple the amount of units that the GC did in the same amount of time, and it's still in its prime with tons of quality software coming and no signs of slowing down, so why would M$ take it's biggest game of 2012, a game which millions of 360 owners are going to buy no matter what, and release a version with slightly better graphics on a new console, which they would probably lose money on?

You know that phrase 'making sense'?  That's what this post is a sterling example of.
