Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Crytek's Ryse now a next-gen release - report

Eurogamer

Crytek's Kinect-exclusive action title Ryse, announced at E3 this year, is now a next-gen project, judging by the LinkedIn profile of a former developer.

According to the CV of one of the game's senior level designers, who has now left the company, it's an "X-Box Next Gen" project.

"Pushing boundaries of next generation gaming, RYSE is an original AAA IP from Crytek slated to deliver an Epic first-person melee experience in the Roman Empire."

NeoGAF poster added further colour, explaining that a Crytek representative speaking at a recent CryEngine 3 student lecture had mentioned there was a "big chance of Ryse going next gen because of all the work they had to do and all the people they are hiring for the Ryse team."

We've approached both Crytek and publisher Microsoft Game Studios for comment and will update if any clarification is offered.

Sources recently told Eurogamer that Microsoft is working on a next-generation version of Kinect which packs considerably more power, potentially allowing the device to lip read players.

Personally I wasn't hyped about this because we know and have seen so little about it. BUT what this speculative news does question is exactly how close the next gen really is. This is the first bit of info that genuinely made me question my 2013 stance ................ but I'll still stick to it. The other evidence and logic is just too sound.

Who has defined that Next Gen is not this gen all of a sudden?

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

This is good news actually. With Kinect 2.0 going to be much better than the current one is they will be able to do some incredible things with Ryse.

Yeah. I think she meant X360.

i think you've just answered your own question there

Could be a misunderstanding regarding the term "next gen". But then again.....who calls 360 next gen when its 6 years old?

It would make an impressive launch title though.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Microsoft has a contest to send two people to CES this year. They've advertised it on their Xbox facebook page.

Additionally Spike TV is broadcasting Microsofts CES keynote, and G4 will be there as well with Geoff Keighly (or however you spell it)

Those two things sold me on this whole launching in 2012 deal. Plus it just seems like the timing is right.

And a great way for Crytek to get their tools in order for next gen. I'm suire they'd love to have Cryengine 3 be the UE3 of the next generation, and all signs point to them attempting that. And what better way to do it then a great looking launch title.

Send 2 people to CES, Spike TV broadcasting, G4 with GK??

Is this all confirmed news? If so then it only confirms those rumors!
