Better question why do people constantly like rehashed Call of Duty games ?

Ya, that's the better question.

Well, I do suck at FPS games.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

i thought you were oldschool, you would know if you are really old school , your name is a fake! =/

Because it appears whatever you may think, the rehashed yearly releases are well liked by audiences.

Also stop with this stupidity that COD is played by only 12 years olds.

No you guys, it is the rare game played by 10 year olds to 30+ year olds. That is why it gets such huge sales, however COD is likley the most popular M rated game with GTA with kids.

I think most people hate them because of their popularity and their influence. If CoD was a

Why? Well, it emboides everything wrong with gaming today, for one. It shows that you don't need to make an effort to make it big and that quantity beats quality. Furthermore, it shows that casual, Hollywood-esque, cheap gameplay without depth it the way to go if you want to make money.
The CoD franchise was great once, among my favourites, and even Modern Warfare was a terrific game.
And then they made everything really simple and tacky and started releasing the same game every year with different maps and a slightly different gruffness to the russian accent of the generic enemies.

As it stands, the series is now void of originality, depth and direction, its just an excuse to claw your money out of your hands.

Games like recent CoD games are the reason racing games, RPG's, strategy games and almost every other genre is going down the shitter and being watered down into one step above mobile games. The future does indeed look bleak for gamers who like immersion and a challenge and solid depth if this keeps on much longer.

The funny thing is; at the beginning of this gen, a lot of people, me included, raged at the Wii, claiming that it "made gaming too casual" when in reality the PS360 combo has done far more damage than the Wii ever could. Look to series like Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Civilization, Elder Scrolls and Call of Duty to see what I'm talking about.

That didnt answer the question at all. Unless you like it beacuse other people do?? IF thats the reason, its all good, but its a weird reason

I have MW3 for the PS3, and I love it. I played MW, WaW, and MW2 (was in Iraq from nov 10 to nov11 so I skipped Black Ops)

Yes the basic premise is the same. 6 on 6 battles where their are multiple goals. You can have a shitty match and win, you can lose but still get to use some sweet killstreaks, the leveling system is very rewarding, even if I lose and have a shitty match at least a unlocked the new sight for my M4, right. You can prestige until you have a couple weeks of gametime or you can stop at lvl 80 and try to get all the challeges. The game changes alot more than say Madden. The only thing that really remains from MW to MW3 is the core formula. All the other stuff is different. All the COD game play differently. MW broke in the formula, it was frag happy an relied on quick reflexes. WaW had Nazi zombies, tanks, and massive stages, the game was slower paced. MW2 really broke the killsteaks to the forefront it had Nukes.... the stages ranged from large zones like in WaW and Quick twitch. Did not play BO. MW3 feel more like MW in stage design. No massive stages where the game feels slow. Very rare for a game to end by reaching the max time. Weapon cust is hugely upgrade and the strike packages a great evolution of the COD killsteak system. The key thing that keeps this franchis growing is this. MW=WaW<<<MW2<MW3. They are using the same formula but are making changes for each version that make the game feel like it plays differently. I would say I prefer the stages in MW2 more the 3(3s stage are still very very good), but the strike packages system, and greatly expanded weapon customiztion system put 3 above 2.

There is no reason for them to revamp the COD gameplay. If I wanted a different experiance I would play Halo, Killzone, Resistence, etc.

Now, I do have a Wii also, and I am going to have to step away from MW for a bit because I love me some Zelda, and it sound like SS is the Zelda I have been waiting for since OoT.

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

War is not a game.

Lol that's the dumbest thing people can say as an argument against Call of Duty.

1) Each new game has tons of new online features/alterations and plays much different than the predecessor. MW3 is a way different than Black Ops, which was way different than MW2, which was way different than World at War, which was way different than CoD4.

2) They rotate developers. IW and Treyarch CoD games are very different. Plus this means each game gets 2 years development, but a new title can still come out annually.

3) What series can you name that revolutionizes each new entry and remains successful? Halo barely changes, Gears barely changes, Battlefield doesn't change, etc.

So like I've just said, claiming they just rehash their games is a bullshit excuse to hate CoD. But some good reasons would be: $15 shitty map packs, horrible post launch support, devs don't listen to the community, lots of bullshit stuff built into the multiplayer.
