Also, I work electronics at walmart and during my 4 hour shift today, I didn't sell a single copy of Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword. Zelda, a franchise that's been around for TWENTY FIVE YEARS and I was suggesting this guy buy it and he was like, what's Zelda? I shit you not. But oh boy, he was there to pick up CoD MW3 for Xbox 360 and I'm just thinking. If it weren't for Nintendo, CoD would have never made it to consoles anyway. Can't figure out why? Here you go.

I completey agree bro! Call of duty is fun as hell!! I've been a hardcore fan since Call of duty 4.

Also I do agree the general public like what they see from the COD franchise and frankly there are a lot of good games out there but very very few would be appealing to the general public.

COD is probably the most accessible FPS outside of Halo, its that simple. ITs not a matter of who is better, but who is easier to play. Hell its no different than Tekken vs. Virtua Fighter. THe general consensus is that VF is better, but Tekken outsells it, all the time

I don't understand the Call of Duty hate either. I played the first one back when I was really into WWII games and I played the first two Modern Warfare games. I thought they were all pretty good. I'll probably play the new one, but I doubt I'll ever buy a COD game. I don't hate the series, I just prefer other shooters like Halo. I don't play multiplayer, and while I enjoy the campaigns, I like science fiction more than plain old regular fiction.

What I find strange is that most people that hate COD usually accuse it of being milked and that Activision just wants to make money off the name without moving the genre forward. I think in the years after Wolfenstein 3D, we have come pretty close to perfecting the FPS. If Activision started from scratch with each COD, there would probably only be 3 in total and I doubt the series would be better for it. As a huge fan of Halo I can't get enough of it. I wish it had a full release every year like COD. I'm sure COD fans love getting more of what they love every year.

It makes no sense to me that people who prefer other games hate COD for being popular. If they don't care for it, then they should care about it. I don't follow sports, and don't care about Madden games. I honestly have no idea what advancements or lack thereof EA has implemented through the series. It has no effect on my enjoyment of the games I love so why would I give it a second though. Does COD effect Halo, Killzone, Final Fantasy, MGS, etc.? No. I just don't get why people spend so much time complaining about something that nobody is forcing them to play.

I think it has more to do with the fanboy mentality then anything. People don't like that COD is more popular then a game they identify with. Fanboys are like cult members. They are irrational and unreasonable. My guess is most COD haters don't like the FPS genre in general and want gaming to go back to the way it was when JRPGs and platformers ruled supreme. They probably think that if the FPS genre went away they could finaly get that Final Fantasy 7 remake they want so much.

You see the same thing with movie fans who think summer popcorn flicks are ruining the industry because all they want are art house snore fests. Music fans will complain that pop sucks, but when they were younger they loved the pop of their time.

It doesn't bother me that people have their opinions. I just wish they would keep the snark to themselves. I don't need to read Activision insults int eh comments below every COD video, article, review, etc. If you really hate it, please stop caring about it and go post positive things about the things you do like.

Who cares man, I love COD and I'll keep on playing until I find I no longer enjoy it (which probably won't happen soon). Some people nowadays seem to care a lot more about the cosmetics of a game or how many years it has been in development as deciding factors to whether a game is worth playing. What they don't understand is that the most basic element a game needed, needs and will always need to be successful is FUN.

COD is fun, atleast to a majority of people. Its simple yes, but that simplicity allows most people to have fun, just like Mario or pokemon games. But for those who wish to invest time, they can truely get better than the majority. For those saying otherwise, try playing against people like Optic gaming, you'll get 1080 ladder stall wrist twist reload cancel reverse 360 no scoped off the top of a building before you even realise what happened.

Also the whole MW3 should have been dlc is also BS. Even if it is the same engine, they have made several improvements to the graphics+sound, added an entire new campaign, all new spec ops mission modes, brand new survival mode to the MW series, 16 multiplayer maps with brand new KS, guns, perks, etc. Add on top of that the insane stat tracking, group+clan support and facebook integration from the free portion of elite. Even if the formula remains the same, do people really expect all of the above features to have been released as dlc? No friggin way.

I understand that there are great games out there which are potentially much better than COD, but thats no reason to hate a legitimately fun series that gives a ton of value for your money. I blame EA for their stupid marketing ploys that have increased this whole "hating COD" is cool trend.

For the Wii the "Hardcore gamer" could blame the "casuals" for intruding in his beloved world and dismiss their games as shovelware.

Call of Duty has been overrun for a while now by a different crowd: the 10-12 year olds name-callers. for the "Hardcore gamer" it is not as obvious to realize that he is intruding in their domain, because he still believes he belongs there.

That confusion is what generates the hate.

people hate cod because they get owned.. done! .. i suggest they go play battlefield instead cause they would last longer in mp.. campers paradise.
