Why? Well, it emboides everything wrong with gaming today, for one. It shows that you don't need to make an effort to make it big and that quantity beats quality. Furthermore, it shows that casual, Hollywood-esque, cheap gameplay without depth it the way to go if you want to make money.
The CoD franchise was great once, among my favourites, and even Modern Warfare was a terrific game.
And then they made everything really simple and tacky and started releasing the same game every year with different maps and a slightly different gruffness to the russian accent of the generic enemies.

As it stands, the series is now void of originality, depth and direction, its just an excuse to claw your money out of your hands.

Games like recent CoD games are the reason racing games, RPG's, strategy games and almost every other genre is going down the shitter and being watered down into one step above mobile games. The future does indeed look bleak for gamers who like immersion and a challenge and solid depth if this keeps on much longer.

The funny thing is; at the beginning of this gen, a lot of people, me included, raged at the Wii, claiming that it "made gaming too casual" when in reality the PS360 combo has done far more damage than the Wii ever could. Look to series like Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Civilization, Elder Scrolls and Call of Duty to see what I'm talking about.
