Forums - Sales Discussion - Sony announce US sales now exceed 3.9m

They have sold 1.2m in the US since Black Friday;

 http://www.sunherald.com/447/story/280815.html

The total on the main page should really be over 9m now then.

 Edit: November 23, 2007 to December 31, 2007 PlayStations sold through totals;

1.2 million PS3s

1.4 million PSP

1.3 PlayStation 2

shipped vs sold

companies exaggerating numbers

etc

....hhhheeeerrrEEE WEEE GOOOOooo agaiin....

That would be Sony has sold 3.9 Million units TO RETAILERS ...
And they have sold 1.2 Million units TO RETAILERS since Black Friday ...

As ever, I think it pertinent to point out that those are units sold to retail, not units sold to consumers. VG Chartz tracks the latter, not the former.

Sony always release sold numbers from my experience. Their prediction for the end of fiscal year is 11m sold not shipped.

"Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) today announced PlayStation(R) hardware retail sales reached more than 3.9 million units"

No, the total in the main page is should remain below 9m.

Come now, what kind of company would post actual sales to consumers when the number of units sold to retail sound much more impressive? It's much easier to access that data, too, since they don't have to go and ask the retailers how well their platforms are selling. The article even states that they're units sold to retail, if you read the first two sentences closely.
