Come now, what kind of company would post actual sales to consumers when the number of units sold to retail sound much more impressive? It's much easier to access that data, too, since they don't have to go and ask the retailers how well their platforms are selling. The article even states that they're units sold to retail, if you read the first two sentences closely.
