"A true console experience on a handheld device"

I didn't notice this at first. This should seem familiar to anyone paying attention to the PSP hype up to its first year.

They are still trying to pull that on us, even though the PSP turned around when it stopped trying to do that. And despite what some might think, avoiding that was a major part of the why the Gameboy systems were hits.

This is a stupid strategy, because it was already proven stupid just over 5 years ago.

??? Some of the best selling PSP games WERE console like games. Hell I would go so far as to say the same for the original GB, the only difference between GB and NES was one was in color. They shared like 80% percent of the same library if not more

What a bunch of baloney.. it has 20 hours of gameplay and some pretty CGI cutscenes so that warrants it being $10 more? By that logic, Ocarina of Time 3D should be the same price as new 360 / PS3 games... $60.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is the same Capcom that managed to cram 2 CDs worth of gameplay and cutscenes into one N64 cart (the largest yet in terms of memory capacity too) with the port of RE2, and still sell it for the standard $59.99 retail price, is it not?

OOT is a port and this is an original game, but I see your point

I'This and Megaman Legends 3 were the reason I was going to pick up a 3DS. Why does Nintendo hate my money so much?

lol what? how much do you know btw?

You're missing the point. Nintendo takes the blame for 3rd parties, just as usual.

The good (bad?) thing is that with this news RE:Revelations is getting more attention

Why don't you make like a tree and get out of here?

1. It's an official game for the saga, not like Operation Raccoon City that is gonna cost 60/70$.
2. It's the first one with a new an powerful cartridge, it's like an iPod containing 1000songs and one containing 3000songs, you don't buy them the same.
3. There is no data, but it was said to be an AAA project so more than 10 milions dollars are spend for this.
4. There's the return of T-Virus.
5. Online Co-Op.
6. A more then 15 hours long single player.

If you don't like long games, major project, online, survival horrors where you can shoot and games using more power they can from a console you maybe do not buy this.

If you want only to say, i'm cool because i can say bad of anything it's done on the 3DS, you're a troll.

20 hours? doubt it, but still leads me to believe its a lengthy campaign.

That alone is worth the money.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Well, you would be wrong. Maybe the games were the same in name, but in terms of their content they were notably different. The Super Mario Land games are not like Super Mario Bros. without color. Mega Man on the Gameboy is not like Mega Man on the NES without color. The list goes on and on. There were barely any games between the NES and Gameboy that were the same.

Just for argument's sake, lets say your right (which i dont think you are, not totally). WHich games for GB sold really well, that did not come from a console orginally?? The only one that comes to mind is Pokemon, and that is a JRPG, something that works well in both console/portable

Or maybe people think all games are made by Nintendo :P

Tetris. Came out on the Gameboy before the NES.

Kirby's Dream Land. That's how Kirby started out. Fun fact: Because the Gameboy couldn't display colors, Kirby ended up being white on the boxart too.

Wario Land. Started on the Gameboy too.

All games sold more than five million copies and fit your requirement. Of course this is completely ignoring that the Super Mario Land games were built specifically for the Gameboy too, instead of blindly forcing an NES port on an underpowered piece of hardware. It also ignores the fact the console games of the old days were very much suited for handheld play, because they were of similar nature. Pick up and play, easy to learn and hard to master.

Nowadays console games aren't like that which is why porting or even forcing them on handhelds doesn't lead to big success. This has much to do with the recent Malstrom article of how consumers define the handheld experience.

This is something I agree with 110 percent. Those games you mentioned are good games, they are 2d platformers which were popular before they went to handhelds. Its one of the genres that do well in both.  But i would not consider them in the same form of something like NInendogs or BrainTraining, which ONLY seem to work on handhelds.

For the most part your right. But that ignores the dozens of games that have done well that you describe. GTA Liberty and Vice Stories, Mario 64 DS, OOT 3d, GOWs, Mario Kart DS??, Mario and Luigi?? or do JRPGS fall into your pickup and play theme that those GB games do. Hell even those MOH PSP games made a profit and sold a million or two. If the the experience is there for the most part people will respond, they might not do crazy numbers, but they will do well enough that will buy

I just pre-ordered on amazon.ca because it's still listed at the low price of $39.99 cdn. Apparently other people are taking advantage too because it's climbing up the chart.
