Alright. My roommate says that in China there is this sense that you really only care for your own (e.g. your family or your village), and no sense of communal responsibility, that if the person is a total stranger then you just feel no connection to them, and thus nobody really feels like doing anything for the little girl because it's a core sense of apathy

Now he doesn't quite understand why they ignored her if there was a bit of blood around, but that's the general idea. The Chinese can be a cruel people even to one another (similar phenomena exist in America, of course, where we ignore the homeless or ignore child abuse, but not to this degree)

This is very Bizarre ... The 18 that nothing are the highlight of this. That was the Most sickening thing....minus the driver effectively running over twice ... once is ridiculous but twice is just twisted..

very dark hearted society. I seen dogs been treated better in the same situation.

Apparently, the first driver was arrested and blamed the girl... just... ugh...

For example they had tests with a (fake) crying baby left alone in a locked car on a sunny day. The most common excuse was "Someone else will help, I don't have time / want to get involved". "The mother is probably nearby". "It's probably just a drunk homeless guy." Actually the only person who stopped to help the guy on the sidewalk was a homeless person.

The human brain is also quite good at blocking these things out, especially when you are on autopilot going somewhere. Living in busy cities has conditioned most people to walk through them while blocking most of it out. Even looking directly at something horrific does not guarantee that it will actually register directly. That comes 5-10 seconds later and not many people turn back at that point. Instead they generate excuses to keep going, someone else will surely help.

Yeah but the examples you listed are minor compared to a DEAD or near-dead/bleeding person (especially a child) in the middle of the street. The human mind isn't good at "blocking" such an extreme case out. There's obviously something else going on (probably to do with the culture or laws).

That's funny because I'm actually surprised at how the driver did not SEE the girl at all. She was walking in the middle of the street for a good 5 seconds, and he was probably driving around 20KPH max. It almost seems as if he ran over her intentionally. Besides, how can he blame the girl when he ran her over with the front wheel, paused, then booked it by running over her with the back wheel?

Not going to watch the video...and I especially don't want to come near the video comments section...they are the worst of the worst.

If she's still alive, I hope she makes it. But if she has passed away, I seriously hope the two drivers face the full extent of the law.
