So, in short, if you aren't rich, it is your fault.  So, should we also add, "don't blame government" also?

So, why aren't you rich?  If it is your fault, then why aren't you rich?  

He qualified a lot of that statement with what rich actually means..

And if there is a guy to make such a statement, its probably Cain. He came from nothing and became one of the most successful men in multiple businesses out there. Has a masters in mathematics, and calculated ICBM's for the Navy.

He's right. That anyone has to be told this to begin with is a sad commentary, indeed.

I'm starting to really like this guy. I'm not rich and I know it's my fault. Too lazy! Rather play games with my kids.

I agree with him fully. At the moment I make a decent wage. However, if I were to assert myself I could make very good money. The only people I have ran into that have a problem with getting a job or having money are those that bitch about any job they get. I have seen lots of adds for jobs in many fields. There is work out their. It is just a matter of people not wanting to take a $10 an hour job, because they just got laid off from a $18 an hour job. If these complainers had drive, they could walk into these $10 an hour jobs, bust ass and move up the ladder. I have been there, and I know it sucks, but if you don't want that life you have to make the decision to rise up.

Now in contrast to that statement, there is an issue right now in this economy, IMO. People that do work their asses off have lost all respect for those that want to ride life out. Thus they take more and more money, and never give back. These guys cut every corner they can to save costs, and impress the guy above them. They don't care if it means laying people off, or letting people go.

So, I believe both sides have to make change. The people on the bottom that want to coast through life have to step it up a little. They may have to either work harder, or become content with work they are not happy to do. The people up top have to slow down, and relax. This blistering pace, they want the world to move at, and the profits, profits, profits attitude has to fall back to reasonable levels.

I'm not rich because I don't care to be rich. I only care to make enough to be able to live semi-comfortably. I'd also like to start my career in the wildlife field and actually use my college degree.  One can't become rich working a wildlife job nor do I care.  I just want a job that I enjoy.  Materialism is what I strive to stay away from. To try and show off does nothing. There will always be someone richer that will look down on you and there will always be someone poorer that will be jealous. The American dream isn't my dream.

He had a father who worked 3 jobs. Why wasn't his father able to get rich working 3 jobs? Is it possible that it is very unlikely one gets rich working a job?

I'm not rich because there is no work, and I'm not evil to do what it takes to become rich via other methods.
