Why?

Because if you have an iPhone, you are then tied to iTunes. It's by far the worst media management program out there and is just a plain dreadful user experience. It's bad enough if you use only one computer but if you want to listen to music on multiple computers, it's just hopeless.

If iTunes wasn't such a waste I would love to suggest the iPhone to more people, but until then, nobody who isn't already tied down by iTunes should get an iPhone.

what are planing to get instead of a new iphone and what prefer to itunes?

No, he is definitely dumb, considering the phones worked just fine. Why change if it's running flawless? I could understand if he upgrades from 3 to 5, or from 2 to 4, but every year? Waste of money.

Was it flawless though? I haven't used any iPhone a lot, but I do know that none of them have been perfect, or indeed flawless, so far. If he's got the cash and wishes to use a better device, why not upgrade?

I'll admit I don't know your friend, and he could very well be dumb as a door, I just think it's silly to say it's dumb to get a new phone a year.

Then let me use another example: Imagine you just bought a Phat PS3, running just fine, shiny without scratches. Now the Slim PS3 is released. Would you sell your Phat PS3 just to buy the Slim PS3? And some iphones certainly have lesser upgrade features.

I do see we have a different perspective on this one, and I can understand your point, but I don't agree with it.

I think it's more analogous to when the 360S came out and GameStop had this big offer where you could trade in your old 360 for one of the new models. I'm pretty sure they ended the offer prematurely because the interest was so big.

I would actually love a Windows Phone.  As for what to use besides iTunes, anything.  It's amazing how bad iTunes is at everything it does.  It is easily the worst media management software out there but if you have an iWhatever you have to use it.

I'm not trying to hate on Apple.  I love my iPhone.  I actually forgot my phone yesterday and I felt hopelessly lost all day not having it there since it's my phone, watch, toy, calorie counter, calander, contact list, and everything else.  The iPhone and smart phones are great in general but iTunes is just so bad.

Apple releases an update to their product lines almost every year.  To be an early Apple adopter (especially the first iPad which didn't even have USB ports, etc..) usually means you will have to shell out more money in a year to get the latest Apple product with more features.  While every company does this it just seems Apple does it more (first models lack features so they have stuff to include later in the next model).  I understand why some people like Apple but I will never buy any of their products, and if I was given one of their products I would immediately sell it.


Well now that the fifth one has come out maybe some people who were on the fence about it will pick it up. I am waiting for either the galaxy tablet 2 or the ipad 3 myself before I pick any of that stuff up.  For now I am fine with my 50 dollar cricket phone, but these fancy things do intrigue me!

You do realise they're on the Galxay Tab 2 now, its the one currently involved in all the lawsuits between Samsung and Apple.
