Forums - Microsoft - Final Fantasy X HD ..... to X360 or not to X360???

I don't think it's gonna be a "full on new game" type of remake (Who here really thinks this?), more like all the other "HD remakes" with mostly just an upgraded resolution

So one DVD (not even DL) is enough for it.

By the way, most of the space that FFXIII takes up is just high quality HD video/audio, the game itself is actually nowhere near that big

Yes, it will be an HD "remaster". Knowing SE and its obsession for details hopefully it will run at 1080p and 60 fps. That means the textures will take much more space. Also the audio/video should be redone, hopefully at the same quality of FF VII Advent Children. Which compressed takes 6-7GB for 100 minutes. The FMV in FF X all together are much longer. The ending takes something like 40 minutes itself. Plus all the videos before and during the main battle(s). But ok, that could be a DVD alone.

Spira felt much bigger than Gran Pulse. At least much more diversified. Than there is Sid as well. Don't forget that you must add all possible monsters. I really mean ALL of them. They are all needed to build the Arena. The cinematic fights with the Aeons and against the Dark Aeons. Or with the magic (Ultima anyone?). Not just some turtles.

It might take less space than FF XIII. After all it doesn' have a fulll 3D camera. But contrarely to it, FF X  can't be easily splitted.

Anyway, I *am* excited. I played it 3 times already, 100% once, but the trophy addition will make it stimulating to play it to the end again!!

BEST FINAL FANTASY GAME EVER!!! :D

Ha ha ha, no.

The ending of FF X is about 15 minutes long, counting the credits roll. XD

Way to completely ignore my comment.

Ehhhh!!! I replied to the first guy.

Still all accessible areas in FF X together are bigger than Gran Pulse. At least they felt so. And as someone else replied you can walk to nearly all places. Also there are the hidden areas. The minigames. Sid. Blitzball!!To split FF X in multiple discs is much harder than to split FF XIII which was linear (and kind of repetitive. Technically as well) for 11 chapters. If not impossible.

To keep it in a DL DVD only? Sure it is possible. Just raising the resolution and upscaling the FMVs. The Blu Ray version would benefit from the higher capacity just having less video and audio compression. Which maybe it is what it will happen anyway. This is the first FF HD remaster after all.

But yet again, the expectations are high. They would be much lower if it had to go to both console. Since MS doesn't allow to have a much more dumbed down version of the same game in their console (search the articles about MS rule to publish games in the X360). In other words, if SE surpasses itself with FF X HD, that won't fit in the X360.

Unlikely for one reason; Sony paid for the game. Like the original Final Fantasy X, it was funded by Sony.

huh? where did you read that? what's your SAUCE ?

FFX is published by Sony in Europe. Like Mass Effect 1 published by Microsoft.

didn't they also publish Ghostbusters?

Are there any 360 version of Ghostbusters game in Europe? I guess not.

I don't know why people are arguing about Ghostbusters. The game was only timed exclusive in Europe because Atari wasn't going to release it on time so SONY took over the publishing rights so their versions can release in time and they could take advantage of the fact that the BluRay collection was releasing as well.

There was never any doubt that the other versions would be released. SONY afterall owns the Ghostbusters IP and would probably stand to make money on any copy sold on any platform.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

Eh it could come to the 360 in the West

Either way I don't care I already got a PS3 so I'll just play it on there if it doesn't release for 360.

This sucks because I'm at the very end off FFX, I put 80 hours into the game over summer and I just bought component cables so it would look great.

...But it will also be out for Vita, it will have trophies and it shouldn't be out for a while.

Which means I can complete FFX now and re-play it on the PS3 and Vita next year :P

I thought you didn't like it?

When did I say that?

It's all I have been playing this week.

Maybe I misintrepreted, but you didn't like its linearity... I don't really remember the details.

No, I don't mind linearity at all, I was just pointing out that Final Fantasy X is very close to Final Fantasy XIII in terms of linearity and pacing.

Really? I don't know then, it has been few years now since the last time. I remember that I played the final battle few times, fully maxed up, and it was taking something like 1:40 minutes. It was never ending!! But the memory can betray me now.

Gotcha!

LOL! Awesome! FFX being PS3 exclusive is very normal.

No smart ass comment about FFXIII :P?

Even though I like the game, I was actually dissapointed you didn't just rip into the game there, I find it funny.

But it's not PS3 exlclusive. It's already on the PS2 and will be on Vita as well.

Anyway, @OP, I'd say wait until TGS to find out about any announcement for a 360 release (if it happens).

As for me, I regret buying that game for the PS2 back in the day and I'm definitely NOT going to be buying it again whatever platform it's on.
