You want to know my personal opinion is that  LOTR is way ahead of the others in terms of story, and impact. But thought I would get an opinion of others on the other two series since they both have a large fan base.

I suppose Harry Potter could have been better had it been written as one book like LOTR. With books 6 and 7 some of the contents of 1-5 seems a bit random. That's not to say they're not great though.

I'm wondering though if Harry Potter would be as it is, had the Lord of the Rings (and the Hobbit) not been written.

Harry Potter was my childhood. The first book enthralled me within five pages and the series didn't let me go until the epilogue of book 7. I like the LOTR books, but as I was the same age as Harry, I found him to be a very relatable character.

Overall, definitely my favourite of the three. Probably my favourite book series of all time.

4 and 5 are easily the best potter books, IMO.

With 6 and 7, it went all srs and just ended up pompous, boring, and far worse than 4 and 5.
