My team for Pokemon Black

Cobalion (Steel/Fighting)
Gyrados (Dragon/Water)
Hydreigon (Dark/Dragon)
Reshiram (Dragon/Fire)
Victini (Fire/Psychic)
Virizion (Grass/Fighting)

However when I get the next two I will remove Gyrados and I think Cobalion.

Kyurem (Ice/Dragon)
Landoros (Ground/Flying)

My dream team (If I could take all my strongest pokemon from all my games) would be

Arceus (Normal-Diamond/Pearl)
Dialga (Steel/Dragon-Diamond)
Ho-oh (Fire/Flying-Gold)
Mewtwo (Psychic-Blue/Red)
Kyurem (Ice/Dragon-Black)
Zekrom (Dragon/Electric-White)

Lot's of strong Pokemon in Gen IV and V, very few in Gen III.

And I wanted to get an original DS so I can play the GBA Pokemon games too, but after seeing the recent 3DS deals (some as low as £130), I might have to go for the DS Pokemon games only.

Looking on Amazon, a GBA SP goes for about $30 used. If you get that you can play all GBA and older games, with a folding system, and a backlight. Best handheld Nintendo ever made IMO. Get that for now, and get the 3DS later when they extend the battery life.

Good plan, but I already have a GBA.

I could get an original DS (£30/$50) or a DS lite (£40/$65) second hand though, and buy a 3DS further down the line.

I found a second hand DS lite for £30 on a boot fair at the weekend, but I don't usually buy stuff from there, incase it's broken.

Lot's of strong Pokemon in Gen IV and V, very few in Gen III.

My team was a lot like that before I decided to rebuild! I had 4 Pokemon with a dragon type (Dragonite, Haxorus, Hydreigon, Reshiram) and I was getting owned by Ice types. Is Kyurem really good? I caught him (and Tornadus, Cobalian) just yesterday but I haven't thought about using any of them. I'm not sure how the whole Dragon/Ice thing works out for Kyurem. Is he still weak to Ice given that he's a dragon or does the Ice type override that?

Also, I think you need both Thunderus and Tornadus to get Landorus.. I need someone to trade me a Thunderus. Boy am I glad I made this thread

My dream team would probably be (off the top of my head... I'm not too familiar with the Pokemon after Gen 2)

Giratina
Mewtwo (or Mew)
Arceus
Articuno (or Kyurem)
Volcarona
...Squirtle

Kyurem is not weak to Ice, and is about as good as the legendary dragon pokemon on Black/Whites cover. He feels like the "Pokemon Gray" Dragon cover to me, that is unless they introduce someone completly new. Also Reshiram is not weak to Ice either as he is part fire.

Landorus, Hydregion, and Virizion are the ones weak to Ice, but Dragon type attacks are more worrysome to my guys then Ice. However when I battle people I always have Victini, Cobalion (strong defence againt ice), and Reshiram to take down an ice type.

As for Landaros, I have a friend who has Pokemon White, while I have Black. I'll get him when we both have some time off.

Check out a website called Pokemondb, they give stats for all pokemon as well as moves learned, where to catch them, and a strength rating. Not sure what the rating system is, but I've seen other websites use the same system with the same numbers, so I assume it's something Nintendo gives out.

Anyway I'll be done with Pokemon Black soon, my next game to beat is Pokemon Gold/Silver.

P.S. When some Pokemon events come out, I will change my party. There is a Pokemon called Genesect who is Bug/Steel. He has no weakness except Fire which is 2x Super Effective. Meloetta is also only weak to Bug and Dark. Keldo is the last event type who is Water/Fighting. Not a particularly strong Pokemon, but about the same level as Cobalion. I'll consider him as well as I don't have any solid water types to take out fire and ground pokemon.

Haven't played for a while, and I only remember my SoulSilver team:

Suicune
Ho-Oh
Lugia
Mewtwo
Typhlosion

I'd really want to make my team stronger, but I don't really have time to do it...

Sweet! Thanks for the info (about Kyurem, Pokemondb and the events!)! I've been using Bulbapedia for info on Pokemon but I only really know the first gen (and slightly know the second gen) Pokemon all that well. So I've got about 400 pokemon worth of info catchup to do and I'm older now so things aren't so easy to memorize anymore. haha

There are 649 different pokemon, so if you only know the first 151, you have about 500 more to catch up on. My advice, skip 3rd gen, they all suck. 5th gen are the strongest, 1st, 2nd, and 4th have some real highlights though.

As posted on the other thread, I only have FIVE Badges on White (3 Badges on Black and my Pokemon are at Lv40 and some are almost at Lv50; I'm doing the same thing on both versions and that's raising EVERYTHING evenly so I can bide time and keep myself entertained lol). Everything is EV trained, too.

I'm still want heart gold (Soul silver) But they cost more then black which is serperior. I'm going in late as always.

So now I've established 5 of my party rebuild for Black. I have...

Samurott - lvl 80 (Surf, Hydro Pump, Hyper Beam, Megahorn)
Hydreigon - lvl 71 (Fly, Strength, Dragon Claw, Hyper Beam)
Galvantula - lvl 67 (Cut, Thunderbolt, Bug Bite, Sucker Punch)
Chandelure - lvl 65 (Flamethrower, Hex, Overheat, SolarBeam)
Metagross - lvl 64 (Psychic, Meteor Mash, Giga Impact, can't remember off the top of my head)

Any suggestions for the final member? I've covered (in order) Water, Dark, Dragon, Electric, Bug, Fire, Ghost, Psychic and Steel types. I was thinking Piloswine/Mamoswine to get Ice and Ground in there.

Landorous or Kyogre (Ice Dragon, I am miss spelling it) are probably the two best I can think of.

I notice you are lacking Fighting and Grass. Maybe Virizion? Or the other legendary dog, I believe he is Rock/Fighting. Name starts with a T.
