I have no problem with DLC in theory, I'm just pissed off at how it has been implemented by certain companies, a notable example being Capcom. If Nintendo (who will certainly provide a disproportionately high amount of my WiiU games) don't be dicks with DLC, only charging for full lengthy quality DLC, I'm happy.

Well its about time Nintendo, geez their should have been DLC this whole generation. As for Nintendo not charging for their first party content that is great. Nintendo shouldn't charge for their own DLC, its a major boost to their first party sales consumers will buy Nintendo games over Microsoft or Sony just for the free DLC.

Honestly I think all games should have DLC and patches for free (If made by Nintendo), its a feature none of the competitors have and Nintendo's unsurpassed quality will keep them competitive. I think if Nintendo started charging for DLC it would chase alot of consumers off, I mean when WiiConnect24 was announced I thought Nintendo would update your game with new DLC and content automatically while you slept and that this content would add new features and gameplay to your game meaning your game would continue to be updated over the months keeping it fresh.

I just hope Nintendo can pull off DLC!

1) No ones forcing you to buy DLC.

2) No ones forcing you to buy DLC.

3) Oh yeah, no one is forcing you to buy DLC.

It's just that simple.

Idiot consumers spending money on shit DLC coughcodcough promote idiot behavior by developers to continue to produce it which ends up being bought by more idiots and so on and so forth.

I have nothing against free DLC, this can even increase product life (free maps)

Updated the OP with an additional correction that wasn't present when I posted it:

Additionally, Iwata's comments about Nintendo not doing paid download content was in reference to certain types of low quality content. He did not rule out Nintendo releasing paid download content in general, and even expressed interest in this area.

Now to read the thread's replies.

So far I haven't bought any DLC on all the devices I own; been close to buying some songs once. For this next generation, DLC will be okey if it's appropiate and the storage solutions present in both the 3DS and Wii U wont limit it, but when companies overuse DLC it can be a problem. For example, I enjoy the common free updates apps get on the iOS market; but that too can be a blessing and a curse, it all depends on the developer. Some of them add content for free when updating the program, but others make your paid content into a free ad haven...
