I think the price of Nintendo consoles, especially handhelds just doesn't matter that much. The system either has games people want or doesn't and right now 3DS doesn't, and until it does it's sales aren't going to be that impressive

And looking by the sales of DS after launch, DS was in the same situation as 3DS (but with a holiday), or not?

Still find it funny that I can legit say that Vita has sold 0 units this week and has 0 games :). It isnt out yet but the next handheld gen has allready started, with or without it. 

No, no, I am agreeing with you. its quite an achivment to outsell hardware that isn't launched yet.

hold on wait a minute doesnt anyone remember the DS lite releasing at 200 then within a few months they dropped the price by 30-40 dollars and then again a few months after that? and those drops were roughly the time that the original psp was released. and those price drops basically killed the psp from ever really competing with the DS in teh first place. the 3ds is in the same boat the price drop comes before the ps vita hits the market and then with the big games ccoming out soon that will spear head another surge in sales compared to a vita that if people dont mind me saying a little SOL because of its price and it will have hardly any games for it. As for the transfering of ps3 games to it did they even address that yet? sony loves money and i just dont see them giving away free copies of a game to be played on their handheld because then people wont buy software for it and if they do charge to "transfer" the ps3 game why buy the game twice? the whole idea in itself screams fail....

In the Uk main shops sold the 3DS at £179.99 to £189.99 from day one. £219.99 was never an option and HMV was giving a free game for all pre-order unit.

HMV confirmed £149.99 after the price drop, (of just £40 - 21%).

Game is selling the used 3DS at £129.99 since middle of July. No wonder people are buying the used version instead of new (especially now with the 22 free games).

All software have increased priced since last week. No 3DS game is under £10 (anymore) and a few are £18 (in store)

1 key difference though:

N64 and Gamecube were launched after the PS and PS2. People already picked the PS as their system of choice and a Price Cut couldn't do anything about it when the PS systems had 4x the games.

3DS is having a Price Cut before PSV is released and before major game releases...3DS will be fine and sell very well IMO.
