The main flaw in this analysis is that no other Nintendo platform has been released at a price where price was a major factor preventing people from buying the system ... While we won't know for sure for a few weeks/months until we've seen the long term effects, being that the system sold out at several local retailers when selling at $200 (with the promised price-drop games), I think price has been a major issue for the 3DS.

" no other Nintendo platform has been released at a price where price was a major factor preventing people from buying the system"

then why did nintendo cut the price on the platforms mentioned? i thought that was what the whole article was about?

If price was a major factor limiting sales why weren't price cuts effective?

Realistically, people were not saying "Man $200 is just way to much to pay for a videogame console, I'm not going to buy the Gamecube, and I'll buy the $300 PS2 instead" ...

The core problems with the N64 and Gamecube was that they arrived to the market too late, the biggest games were already being steadily launched to Sony's platforms which launched 12 to 18 months earlier than Nintendo's systems, and management decisions by Hiroshi Yamauchi alienated third party publishers which kept the game library small and too dependant on Nintendo's game releases. Up until your post, no one has ever suggested that price was a main issue impacting sales of these systems.

 MH 3D

Monsters Hunter 3D is almost a no brainer, but you'll have to settle with Dinosaurs 3D from Ubisoft.

Now that's what I call cruel...

Currently Playing: Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked, Professor Layton and the Curious Village

Anticipating: Xenoblade, The Last Story, Mario Kart 7, Rayman Origins, Zelda SS, Crush3D, Tales of the Abyss 3DS, MGS:Snake Eater 3DS, RE:Revelations, Time Travellers, Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney, Luigi's Mansion 2, MH TriG, DQ Monsters, Heroes of Ruin

Don't worry guys, it's still tracking some 30% ahead of both the Gamecube and the Xbox.

And it was not launch during the holiday season... Just wait for the holidays sells (even more with the much lower price now) before speaking of its doom.

But we must first concentrate ourselves on the way to entertain people, for video games to live. Else, it's a world where sales representative will win, which has as effect to kill creativity. I want to say to the creators all around the world:"Courage, Dare!". Shigeru Miyamoto.

It's getting pounced by the GBA though. 2:1, close to 3:1 at this point. Still it's better to wait for the, mmm, mid-term sales after the pricecut.

i didn't know that you were in a position to say that the price cut on the 3ds will be significantly more effective than other price cuts by nintendo.... the only way to know that for certain would be to be able to travel forward in time and if thats the case forget this whole thing i want to see what the world looks like in 100 years

"no one has ever suggested that price was a main issue impacting sales of these systems"

thats not really it its just that i think its a little too early to make the point you've made as we don't know for certain how the 3ds will be impacted by that price cut

IGN is now days a butload of shit anyways so I don't really care.

How is that not a reason to worry? That's basically saying it will do N64 numbers instead of Xbox numbers. That's still a problem.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

Sarcasm is a powerful weapon.

If it was sarcasm, then I retract my comment of course.

So, the only way for it to not d0med is to not get a price cut? Sure

What? They didnt said that, that wasnt thier point, stop trying to turn this into another ''lolz IGn fail 'n dumb flaimbait'' thread. IGN raises a good point this time actually.
