How did the GameCube get so many votes? I'm gonna go with the Ultra Nintendo 64. I think the N64 proved that Nintendo could sell a console wholly based on their exclusives. A lot of 3rd parties passed on the N64 due to the cartridges.

A lot of people underestimate him, but the Gamecube managed to be profitable even releasing at $200 and selling only 21m, not to mention it still had loads of great and harcore games (F-Zero GX, Metroid Prime, Wind Waker, Resident Evil 4 etc.) and the neatest controller ever.

Let's not forget also it introduced a hardware design (the Power PC / ATI with embed memory combo) that was incredibly cheap for it's power and became so sucessful it turned out to be the standard today for consoles, bar the "alien" PS3, and very likely it'll be used next gen by all of them.

That's why the Gamecube gets my vote even if the SNES was greater for his time.

Nintendo 64 for me, it had the best star wars games, and Conker's Bad Fur Day was one of the most unique and memorable titles I've ever played (although not necessarily enjoyable) (I also love Pokemon Stadium :P)

although I've only ever played on the Wii and Nintendo 64

SNES, with the wii being second

It just has to be the SNES, because those was the days. I remember when Street Fighter 2 first hit the arcades and fights broke out over that game. People get their quarters out and wait to play the champion. Then the game was made for consoles and that took the arcades home. It wasn't the same for the Sega Genisis because of it's three button layout. The Super NES was the perfect controller and let the games begin. The NES was my first and could of been equally as good, but I never like the idea of fighting with it to get it to play. Using swabsticks and water/alcohol/spit that can last up to twenty minutes before giving it quits. It was hardly that bad with the SNES.

Wii. It lets you play any previous console as well as some kickass exclusives.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Obviously the Wii. I can play Wii games, gamecube games, very few N64 games, a few SNES, and some NES games.

It's the ultimate Nintendo machine.

Misleading :P

There I fixed it...

Easy: Wii

Why? It plays Wii, GameCube, N64, SNES and NES games!

I find it funny that Nintendo's three declining home consoles have the most votes and its most successful has the least, :P.
For me, it's the Wii, since it's the only home console I have.

I think a lot of this depends on what age you were at the time. Of course, the correct answer is the SNES. At the time, it had:
-Top notch technology
-Amazing third party support
-Innovations on top of innovations (Mouse support, Super Scope, SFX Chip)
-The absolute best games in every genre (except sports but they did have most of what Sega had)

It was Nintendo console at its best and we've never seen that since. N64 suffered software droughts from day one to the day it died (not to mention the outdated cartridge format that pretty much assured Sony would win the gen). Gamecube suffered from lack of third party support and a kiddie image (as well as atrocious design. A purple cube. Seriously?). Wii lacked the processing power to impress when compared to the competition. With the SNES, Nintendo did everything right and those that owned one at the time knew beyond a doubt that they owned the best system on the market, bar none.

Unless you lived in Europe, in which case Nintendo says a big fuck you. It was released a year later compared to NA, and we didn't even get half the games. Remember Final Fantasy 6 (released as 3 on the SNES)? You know when Europe got it? Let me tell you: It never did. And hundreds of other games received delayed releases and that's even if they were released at all.

I'm voting Gamecube all the way. It was the first gen that Nintendo remembered that gamers actually existed in Europe.  Oh we still got shafted, don't get me wrong, but it wasn't as bad as before. Wii has very few good games as far as I'm concerned and gets few releases compared to NA still. It's by no means a favorite of mine.
