Even though best games are probably the SNES ones, the best console as itself I think was the GameCube. Very powerful for it's own time, yet not expensive, cool looking, awesome controller, smoothest running disc based console ever (almost cartridge speed), great graphics and outstanding quality, it was built to last and damn, it even was 3D capable!! (not that I care)

Definitely the N64, followed by the SNES.

My mind is suitably boggled at the GC, Nintendo's worst console aside from the Virtual Boy, leading the poll...

There is absolutely no logical way GCN should be kept at the top like this. It has less than half the good games of ANY other Nintendo console. Y'all are crazy.

Super Nintendo >>>> NES >>> Wii > GameCube > N64.

I'm not saying GC is the best, but it should be given extra credit for having the ability to play GBA games through an expansion. The SNES is the only other console to do that AFAIK...

Any chances Wii U will offer similar compatibility with the DS line? (I'm saying no...)

I wish I had a Virtual Boy.... I knew I should have gotten one when they were heavily discounted before their disappearance.

 

 

 

I voted for NES since I pretty much grew up on the NES and Atari 2600.

I got mine four years ago from another guy here on VGC. Don't remember how the conversation started, but dude had a Virtual Boy and didn't want it so I bought it and all his games (all of the English-translated titles except for one) off him for $50.
