Well, I suppose it would be best to wait till the holidays, when deals will make it under $99 in price, or at least till we have Q2 shipment numbers, but, for the moment, it doesn't look like it.

Price cut is a good beginning, but it must be followed by regular big games releases to make its effect last longer. And the first must be within weeks, as during the first ones happens the biggest drop.

They could've delayed the price cut and ended up with a bigger profit while selling less hardware and less production cost to boot.

No. It gave the console a big boost for a Month, and now it's already below the PS3 in most of the World.

And they were stupid too. Not releasing any compelling SW around the cut, despite fans begging them to release certain games.

"Hey, Nintendo of America, how about giving us all them great games Europe and Japan seem to be getting?"

"We ARE supporting you! See, Wii Play Motion is selling grea- Erm. Look at how well the DS Family is selling!"

It boosted it well for a little while, but now it's almost down to what the PS3 is selling.

I disagree. I think it did what Nintendo was intending - I just don't think they expect much besides giving it a bit of a boost. The inexcapable reality is that Wii is practically dead. PS2 had a more compelling line up a year after PS3's launch than the Wii has now and Wii U doesn't even have a launch date.

There is nothing software-wise that will sell Wii's at this point. What do we have?
Kirby Wii? 1-2m seller at most and the second Kirby title in a year (not that I'm complaining, it's been too long since Kirby had console games)
Just Dance 3? Which is the 5th Just Dance title now. It'll sell, but not really move hardware.
Zelda: Skyward Sword - Easily the biggest draw but let's face it, 98% of peope who love Zelda already bought a Wii so it's not going to move hardware unless it appeals much broader than the traditional Zelda audience.

Beyond those, there's vertually no games out or coming out for Wii at all. There's no hype. Wii U is already announced. Wii is vertually completely abandoned by third parties (even the Raving Rabbids have jumped ship!) and NoA isn't even releasing the great games NoJ/NoE have available.

The price cut did it's thing. There's just not much you can do to sell a system that's on it's deadbed.

I don't think Nintendo were expecting much to be honest - they know that the Wii is almost gone.
