Nintendo is going the Gamecube route next gen and dooming itself, thoughts?

personally out of all the marios right now, or all the zelda, i would want to play sunshine and wind waker

luigi's mansion was awesome.  metroid primes were amazing.  mario kart was fun but do think that is my least favorite. 

i think most will agree with me.  i never understood the critic hate for those games.

when i think of games i would like to see remade on 3ds. it is not n64 or wii, or any other system games taht pop to my mind its games like luigi's mansion, wind waker and others that do.  and i want a mario sunshine remade for wii.

It's just my take on it. I ended up not gaming at all for almost the entirety of 2004-06 after being so disappointed in the Gamecube lineup. I did love Metroid Prime though.

well its just weird.  i recall playing those games and enjoying them yes, but wishing they were more like mario 64 and ocarina of time and thinking wtf did you do to luigi, why can't he have a normal game.

but now as time goes on, i want to play them more and more and more and don't understand how i did not think they were the best games ever.  i had to rebuy them, cause was stupid and sold them.  i would much rather play those games again than play mario galaxy or twilight princess.  twilgiht princess is  gc anyway, but still.

Agreed, Eternal Darkness sequal would be a fine tradeoff for a poor selling console in my book!

You didn't give very many positive choices. I think Nintendo is fine, and how is this going the Gamecube Route? Gamecube released late, with the best graphics of the generation, but not much third party support. Nintendo is specifically trying to improve third party support on the Cafe, and releasing early like the successful PS1, PS2 and arguably 360 did.

You are right on the spot.

A lot of the new casual that came to the Wii are not going to upgrade to a new console just because one is coming out.

This is not the gamer crowd that is used to upgrade their console every 5 years or so.....

Heck what's the argument for making them upgrade ? Better graphics ? Better processing power ?

None of the Wii bestsellers were actually focused on that area ( Wii Sports, Wii Fit, Wii Play, Just Dance, Guitar Hero,....) so why would they need those things to enjoy those kind of games ?



PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

He thinks that they would follow Nintendo to a new console if Nintendo provided the games that brought them to the Wii in the first place, but where that all falls apart is when he assumes that Nintendo isn't interested in making those types of games anymore

You know regarding third party it would help if Nintendo's action coincided with what they are saying .

 

Nintendo say : we want to collaborate more with third parties.

1 week later, Nintendo releases first party only platinum line of titles...

Way to go go Ninty !
