Forums - Nintendo - What does Samus mean to you?

Someone I control to explore  a world with, that happens to get some pretty good upgrades and moves. Nothing more Nothing less and no different than I see Sonic/Mario/Fox/Zelda/Donkey Kong and so on.

She shoots stuff and stars in amazing games.

This might be a long read but...

As a kid I never new much about her histotry until I started playing Super Metroid. This game is what made me-started to realised that shes a loner, alone exlporing in an uncharted planet; by herself in dead silence, (to her point of view) It has to be very nerve wrecking. I later realised that shes not the like the other female heroines; shes professional, and not all flashy. I started to like her even more when Metroid Prime was released.

Now that was the game that got me sitting on the edge of my seat. As a person with a history of anxiety I would get so nervous playing, I would allways ask myself "even Samus has to have her episodes". Which I wonder if that was the reason they made Samus the way she was in Metroid Other M; a little emotional. You can be the most toughest person but still have some problems. Even after Other M, I still see hers as the badass but profesional bounty hunter who I know and love (even though shes only fictional).

Well she started off as an avatar of the player much like Link, I fell however that she's grown into an actual character though, with a backstory, a life, strenths and weaknesses, something you can't do with someone who is supposed to be you.

I guess this is a large reason I can't get into Metroid prior to the prime series but love the Primes, Fusion, and Metroid Other M.

To me she's an amazing character with a pretty good list of games behind her haha

Bit of a bad-ass girl, who has an amazing arsenal

Sorta like Alien?

And Other m i thought was fine. No hate-fest here. It told you more about her. Sure, she was a bit weak there, but it was still Samus at its core...

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

She's the most important Nintendo character in my lifetime. What she fights for, how she goes about it, her transformations, and her potency for a brand make her not only my favorite Nintendo character of all time, but the hottest gaming girl around!

Great...image you've got there

But you make a damn good point nonetheless

Nothing. Just a sexy character in some good games (Other M being the best).

Honestly, I'm pretty much indifferent to her. As a character, she (like most video game characters) just isn't all that interesting to me. Well, not since I got past the initial 'OMG I WAS PLAYING AS A GURRLL?!' phase.

I really wouldn't care if Nintendo decided to replace Samus with a new protagonist. In fact, I'd encourage it, since the Metroid canon is starting to get way too convoluted. (Though Sakamoto would probably fight to the death before letting that happen. )

Noooooo!!! I swear, I would boycott Nintendo if they got rid of Samus!

Well, firstly, let's agree that Samus didn't exist in Other M, it was her weak sister.

Now, to me she means strenght, courage and independency.
