But I don't think the Wii has any real chance of significantly outselling either HD console this year unless they start taking measures very soon. If they don't do anything till fall/winter there may simply be too much ground to cover.

About Japan, I forgot to add; all home consoles will be irrelevant within two years time there, handhelds are simply stealing the entire market.

Speaking of WW sales I'd say 3DS first and both Sony handhelds last.

As for the rest, I think price cuts may be the deciding factors (possibly E3 announcements as well).

tooo early to call for me, anything could change.... def if sony and lg cant make up a decision..... overall i predict

Sooooo true!  I know this is a pet subject of mine but....

This cant be underestimated.

5th gen sales... Japan Home console sales represented 26% of the global market

6th gen sales... Japan Home console sales represented 15% of the global market

7th gen sales... japan Home console sales currently represent 10% of the gloibal market... and shrinking.

This isnt just because Other global sales are increasing (thought they are)... Japan sales are falling and will surely continue to do so.  

Will be VERY interesting to see what will happen to Home console sales and software support in Japan during the next gen.


Yeah, between them for this gen, the 360, PS3 and Wii are still several million away from what the PS2 has moved alone, let alone what the GC and PS2 moved together. The overall market may be growing (rather a lot at that) but Japan is becoming a non-factor very quickly for home consoles.

I think nintendo ds lite/i will get a pricecut to 79/99$ for the holidays

Nintendo Wii will drop to $150

Don't think either the 360 or ps3 will get pricecuts this year and I don't think a $50 pricecut will help them as much as it will help the nintendo systems.
