Thanks for letting my thread influence you...but with all the respect I can give I don't understand your thread...PS3 didn't fail but it is last and failed to be as big as what Sony hoped for.

wow you answered yourself.

How? If PS3 failed...what would have happened...? If thats what this thread is about then it makes no since LOL...PS3 didn't influence anything in this Gen...so it would be exactly the same.

i know. your asking what does he mean? then you answer yourself. so no need asking it. question is really silly only thing ps3 did was introduce bluray to a gaming console.

Being in 3rd place never felt so good

I dont think much would have changed other than the small details such as extra features that PS3 brought - Wireless controllers, but I am sure 360 would have gotten to that stage eventually, I think that the only major factors that PS3 brought to the table were;

The alternative to X360, direct competition, brought about competition between companies - price cuts earlier than anticipated and all those little things that make the consoles stand out to the consumer.

Extensive exclusive games library.

Wireless controllers

AND BluRay , although it's not spread on the other consoles but it's a good method of storage and allows developers to do much, at least on PS3 which is the only one that uses the format,  I would have liked to see similar format on X360.

All in All, seeing as it was the last console released I don't think it had such a large influence in terms of hardware etc since those can't be altered.

so eye toy wasnt a motion controller but it had to do with motion.

if ps3 failed 360 and wii would be here. only thing ps3 did this gen is give us great games and thank god for that. gaming would still be here and ofcourse we have bioware. who needs anybody other then bioware.

Me, I don't like any of their games.

If the PS3 had failed this gen (ie. be discontinued) Sony would probably still have supported it with software for a while. NGP would have probably been developed and released far earlier to create a viable platform for Sony's massive first party to keep working, and PS4 would probably be just around the corner.

I think it would have a negative effect on the industry as a whole, many gamers would continue to play the PS3 while Sony still supported it, and after dropping such a high price on the machine many would perhaps be unwilling to buy an alternative platform, so overall software sales I think would be down. With less chance for smaller studios to deferentiate themselves by being exclusive to one platform and one online service, some of the smaller studios sony had fostered would have been in danger, they would have had to change business models or be lost in the shuffle. It would have cost the industry a phenomenal amount of money, scrapping PS3 ports and exclusives and trying to switch to porting to the 360 late in development. The 360 might have then seen a very crowded release schedule, with some of the switching developers ala Quantic Dream not receiving the exclusive marketing Sony put behind it and perhaps encountering financial failure as a result. Another player may even have entered the void Sony left if the PS3 had failed very, very early.

It's been said a few times in the thread, but let's say it again. There would HD-DVD in shops instead of Blu-rays, and no redesign for the Xbox. Maybe more multiplatforms between all consoles.

And you have direct proof that the Wii was actually an influence to games this generation?  Assuming that Kinect and Move came out because the Wii is not direct proof...there is not a single iota of direct proof out there that shows the Wii has affected gaming forever any more than the PS3 has.

Edit: Also, you should fix the original post a little...the Move was not around before Nintendo was around, Nintendo was around before the Playstation brand even existed lol.

...I don't see Microsoft or Nintendo trying to make a redesign of the Wii or 360 with BR. I do see however, Move and Kinect coming from Sony and Microsoft to try and get some Casual consumers.

Having one of the three consoles this generation flop massively wouldn't really have a huge impact on gaming at all.

It couldn't have failed. PS3 had support, brand name and, perhaps most importantly, a near-infinite amount of money being thrown at it. Sony would have gone bankrupt before the PS3 failed.

EDIT: I just noticed. Is your OP supposed to be a joke? No matter how deluded one might be, it is not realistically possible to believe that Sony was developing the Move in the 1880s, 60 years before Sony was founded.

That's not direct proof at all...its an assumption...while it very well could be true that it happened because of Wii, we have absolutely no clue.  I don't understand why you had to come into this thread and just troll it, I think its an interesting topic.

Money can't buy happiness. Just video games, which make me happy.

Welll if PS3 died it would mean that there wasn't a market for hardcore gaming... meaing games like Heavy Rain, Uncharted, Gran Turismo and Killzone failed to attract an audience. If these games failed to attract an audience then all similar games would also fail to attract an audience. This would mean that X360 would have done a lot worse then it did and may be close to failing itself. The gaming industry would shift, and gamers like myself would have less intersting games to play.

I don't know, games on X360 that can be classed as "hardcore" have done reasonably well, Halo 3 is the top selling game, second only to MW2 and it's expansion, ODST pulled something like 5.6M, which is reasonable considering all it added was 5-6 hour campaign. I don't think it shaped hardcore market but it did provide some interesting and innovative alternatives that can provide new and fresh experiences. Gears is also a good example as both gears have sold 6m apiece, with the 3rd looking to outperform the previous iterations, also majority of the multiplat games sold better on X360 before, but now PS3 is catching up and selling them on par or even higher in some cases - multiplat games of established games such as resident evil etc.
