Me, I don't like any of their games.
If the PS3 had failed this gen (ie. be discontinued) Sony would probably still have supported it with software for a while. NGP would have probably been developed and released far earlier to create a viable platform for Sony's massive first party to keep working, and PS4 would probably be just around the corner.
I think it would have a negative effect on the industry as a whole, many gamers would continue to play the PS3 while Sony still supported it, and after dropping such a high price on the machine many would perhaps be unwilling to buy an alternative platform, so overall software sales I think would be down. With less chance for smaller studios to deferentiate themselves by being exclusive to one platform and one online service, some of the smaller studios sony had fostered would have been in danger, they would have had to change business models or be lost in the shuffle. It would have cost the industry a phenomenal amount of money, scrapping PS3 ports and exclusives and trying to switch to porting to the 360 late in development. The 360 might have then seen a very crowded release schedule, with some of the switching developers ala Quantic Dream not receiving the exclusive marketing Sony put behind it and perhaps encountering financial failure as a result. Another player may even have entered the void Sony left if the PS3 had failed very, very early.
