Sucks for Geohotz.

The only reason why sony even filed this lawsuit is so they could get his PS3 and PC and snoop around his files and make an actual case, as they have none right now...or get his knowledge of PS3 hacking. Cheaper than hiring him...

He publicly released his memory bus glitch. They don't need his knowledge at all.

Sure...they filed this lawsuit and want his computer and PS3 so they can see his PSN download que and his porn collection.

Yeah, the only way I think sony can 'really' win this is if they find a host of child pornography on geohotz computer. I say that's an unlikely scenario... but you never know

Finding evidence might be a good reason. After all, the damage is already done.

At that point, he probably already erased what he had to erase.

Maybe he'll get to keep his W7 phone.. or not. *giggles*

I approve of this.  Legit hardcore gamers such as myself shouldn't have to have my gaming experience penalized just because of a few I-don't-have-a-life-so-I-have-to-prove-myself-of-something turd heads.

I had thought that as well actully, they can do all sorts of things if they have access to his computer and PS3, and see who else he's distributed this hack to.

but i'm guessing that Geohotz is just going to delete or destroy all the information himself instead of letting Sony get a hold of it - if he can get away with that.

Wow, and here everyone though Sony was going to lose.

Sony already "lost".  The files are already out there and even being mirrored by Universities now.  This whole exercise is more about trying to save face and show the shareholders they're taking action.

If they can make an example out of a hacker and expand the powers of the DCMA, even better. That's a double edged sword though, if Sony loses at trial it could impede the DCMA (which would be fantastic for consumer's rights) and their case at the moment is pretty weak, which is why they're casting such a wide net and fishing for anything they can really go after Geohotz for.

this is like a premiership football team facing a league 2 team...the league 2 team just scored...

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

I was talking about the trial. Everyone thought they were going to lose, yet they won....the trial...

Good, though the damage is already much more than done. Just shovel the foot down the throat of those so-called "homebrew" developers please!

Uh... there hasn't been a trial yet... all Sony's "won" is permission to keep going basically and maybe get to the trial stage.

Geohotz had already taken down the files when the motions started and most likely disposed of any "questionable" data, Sony effectively gained nothing substantial here.
