PS3 unless some big wii announcement happens (DQX, MH3G, new Nintendo games,...)

It looks like a similar scenario to last year though with bigger PS3 dominance throgh the first half. Though i wouldnt be surprised if Wii gets a comeback later on. FF13VS also might be a big game for the PS3.

I'll go with PS3 this year, but still too early to call right now :)

I'll go with the PS3, I think it will have gained a bigger lead by the holidays, and the difference the Wii makes in that period won't close the gap.

This is not even a contest, Wii is going to get destroyed.

It is also true that this is a battle of who is going to sell less shittier.

PS3 will have FF XIII-2 this year and the Wii has a chance of having DQ X. Will be interesting.

I think it'll be very close. Really, releases are the only thing which wil make a difference. As you said, the Wii has the Last Story this month, and it's bundled as well. But that will likely only be a short-term effect. I see it like this:

  • IF Skyward Sword, The Last story, Dragon Quest X and a price cut for Wii, Wii win own
  • If nothing changes, they'll be little difference. One week here, one there...
  • IF only the PS3 gets a price cut, or some killer Move games, maybe PS3 will edge it
Since the top scenario is most likely, I'll say Wii will likely just edge it

Ermm...

Maybe the second part is true (but this is the 5th year, come on), but what proof do you have with the first one?

Well I reckon that the term "destroyed" when your adversary is going to beat you by a mere couple hundred thousand units is not really an accurate one :P

Well there is a chance both handhelds outsell them, and they'll be turning 7 this December.  Although the GBA and PS2 fell off pretty quick after new hardware came out, so maybe they'll scrape by.

The Japanese are weird though. When the rest of the world have given up (pretty much) on the PSP, it's the best selling console in Japan. Also, handhelds are different, they always sold more due to lower prices and new  models...

Expect the drop-off to be steep after the 3DS and (maybe) PSP2 however!
