Forums - Sony - Mass Effect 2 is selling out

I will say that in my town the Best Buy and Walmart are sold out of them. With mainly only Kmart having copies left..(Which almost always has extra copies of every game).

NICE!

Any chance for a trilogy release for the PS3?

Microsoft owns the rights to the first game so no. You know one and two would've been on one disc if it hadn't been for Microsoft owning ME1.

Fully? I thought they only owned publishing rights...

As for the two of them being on one disc, no I didn't know that :P

They funded the game, which means the game exclusively belongs to them. The IP does not belong to Microsoft. This is their issue where Sony is better with 2nd  party titles. They actually buy the IP's.

I think they could pull of something like a ME1 Sigma and bypass the exclusivity like Ninja Gaiden.

What are you talking about? Microsoft funded the production of ME1. That means they own it's contents. Microsoft never published ME2, which means they don't own it and have no say over its exclusivity. Tecmo used Microsoft's timed-exclusivity money to make Sigma 2. That has nothing to do with publishing. They never owned the game. Get it?

Ah,  so they own content versus the name. Microsoft owns the name for Ninja Gaiden and Ninja Gaiden 2, so in order for Tecmo to put it on the PS3, a slight reworking of the title and due to Sony's "late games need new content" clause the game was retooled some..

Microsoft doesn't own the name for Ninja Gaiden nor Ninja Gaiden 2. If they owned it Sony wouldn't have either game. Sony only got games later because Microsoft paid for timed-exclusivity. This means they paid for the game so it would come to Sony late and they couldnt profit off of it. Mass Effect 1 was published by Microsoft so that means they own the rights to everything they paid for.

I'm definitely going to buy mass effect 2,but I have a question: Should I borrow a 360 from a friend and play Mass Effect 1 before I buy it?What I want to say is,is it worth the time i'm going to spend playing?

You can get it for PC, I got mine bundled with a PC mag for less than 10€.

There would have been no reason to change the name if that was true.....

The Sigma versions of Ninja Gaiden are only to differentiate titles because Itagaki had nothing to do with Sigma. Sigma is an overhauled version of the originals which were at one time exclusive to the Xbox or Xbox 360. Look up Sigmas perks, it's basically superior to NG2 in a lot of ways.
