Consoles- "When I grow up I want to be a PC!"
Time for hype

but then these hackers cant play online or they'll be banned, which shuts up Activision, i think Sony are more interested in that than piracy tbh. |
Oh, definitely. They need to preserve a decent online experience for their paying customers.
Obviously will stop pirates from playing online, but that also sort of means that either Sony can't come up with how to ban from PSN upon detection or that they simply want to do away with the used market and this is a good excuse to do so.
Does anybody else think that this will encourage stores that specialise in used games (EB, Gamestop etc) to convince potential console buyers to buy anything other than the PS3, since it would mean more potential profits down the track with used titles.

but if someone distributed the game and the serial in internet, people not connected to Internet can play that copy, right? |
This is what i dont understand, because this is basically the same as using an illegal copy of Windows, so i dont know why pirates would connect to the internet. but then if you have the internet your most likely going to be on PSN.
but then pirates also cant connect to the internet or they would be banned, or prevented from running the game at all, so if they cant access the PSN network, how cant they distribute their hacks. so it seems like a well thought out process imho, but i'm no expert, theres probabily a way to connect to PSN and distribute your hack without actully being a member of PSN.

yeah they will probably give less shelve space for the PS3 and push the 360 version for multiplat games.. I can see that happening..

You don't need to distribute a hack throgh PSN, if you mean the code or any patches, CFW and whatnot. Once they hack the BD check, it's like PC piracy. DL the iso or whatever it is BD get ripped into plus a txt with the code. Nothing will change for offline piracy play.
Well played Sony. An excuse to kill of used games market.

Actually it makes me consider buying 360 only multiplatform games, just when I switched to buying ps3 mostly multiplatform games. Honestly can't blame sony for the move, but they have to accept that multiplatform console owners won't take this well.

Yes, thanks for that. so it seems now that this system is mainly designed to prevent people from distrupting online play. athough we know that this is more to do with Activision and not to do with the PS3's security.
and i dont think this is too bad for used game sales, you buy a game you use 1 code, the store uses 1 code to check how many you have left, if you have 1, 2 or 3 codes, i dont see why the game cant be resold. when you trade things into some stores here in the UK, they check if its still in working condition anyway.
this is no different from that imho. the only problem is when you've used all 5 codes, then your game is useless.
