No i dont think so, because not everyone has internet access. i think the code only works with the disk. so say you buy God of War 3.

theres an algorythm on the disk that accepts the code you type in and tells you PS3 that the copy is genuine. however, if your not connected to PSN, i dont see how Sony cant know how many times you've used the same code, because the information on a disk cant change (its write only), so the disk dosent know how many times you've used the code.

but if someone distributed the game and the serial in internet, people not connected to Internet can play that copy, right?

This is what i dont understand, because this is basically the same as using an illegal copy of Windows, so i dont know why pirates would connect to the internet. but then if you have the internet your most likely going to be on PSN.

but then pirates also cant connect to the internet or they would be banned, or prevented from running the game at all, so if they cant access the PSN network, how cant they distribute their hacks. so it seems like a well thought out process imho, but i'm no expert, theres probabily a way to connect to PSN and distribute your hack without actully being a member of PSN.
