Forums - Sales - Square Enix has embarrassed themselves this gen.

What are GBA, and GCN figures for last gen? I'm sure all the GBA Final Fantasy games must have made 10 million sales at least. I'll add it up.

GBA - 7 games - 5.72 million mostly from FFTA and Kingdom Hearts

Well the DS has certainly seen a massive increase in SE software sales.

GCN - For some reason VGC says SE published no GCN games, but Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles was SE. Did you include developed games in your list? If So...

GCN - 1.38 million - FFCC

Still, your figures are misleading. Combining PS2, GBA and GCN sales, last gen sales were 52 million plus.

Combining DS, PSP, PS3, 360 and Wii sales this gen SE sales are 53 million plus.

ALREADY SQUARE ENIX GAMES HAVE SOLD MORE THEN LAST GEN.

Don't forget, this gen isn't over. There are still a couple PSP Final Fantasy games coming, and many more for Wii PS3 and 360.

To name a few - Dragon Quest X, Final Fantasy XIII-2, Final Fantasy XIII Versus, Final Fantasy Type-0, and XenoBlade (US). That will likely add close to 15 million more units. SE should finish off with 70 Million sales, not an embarrassment.

Even the big games are selling as well or better this gen compared to last.

-Dragon Quest IX sold 5.50 million where DQVIII sold 5 million.

-FFXIII sold combined 6.38 million, outselling FFXII which sold 5.74 million, but underselling FFX which sold 7.95 million units.

-and considering Star Ocean sold on the 360, which is dead in Japan it did reasonably well. NA and EMEAA sales are 0.73 million, compared to 0.63 million for Star OCean: Till the End of Time.

Exactly people just never really seem to think about those facts for some reason.

It's because SE isn't releasing games they want them to release. There is still no Kingdom Hearts 3, and a lot of people consider FFX > FFXIII. Ontop of that SE is supporting the 360 a lot, so Japanese sales for many games are cut, so people could easily think that they aren't doing well, but nope.

However I'm Happy. Damn good DS support, great Dragon Quest games, good Final Fantasies and Star Ocean, and a nice selection of smaller titles (Nier, Infinite Undiscovery, etc).

anybody who says Square-Enix hasn't released a good game this gen clearly hasn't played TWEWY, it's easily the best game to come out since the Merger.

I honestly gave that game a try from all the good things I hear, but I got bored of it after 3 hours. It's interesting, and makes good use of duel screens, but I couldn't get into the story and wasn't a huge fan of the gameplay. However Dragon Quest IX & X, Final Fantasy XIII, and FFXIII Versus all look like to be interesting games....too bad I haven't played any of them yet lol!

However Infinite Undiscovery was really fun.

SE are still EASILY my fav devs this gen with al my fav handheld games (TWEWY, DQ9, KH BBS, Crisis Core FF7...thats not even counting the remakes), my fav iphone game (Chaos Rings) and 2 of my most liked console games this gen (FFXIII, Just Cause 2) and two hidden gem of this gen (Nier, The Last Remnant). No company this gen has given me such variety in gameplay, play styles and still delivered on all ends (except sony and nintendo once xenoblade is out). Of all SE games I played this gen only 3rd Birthday and FFXIV sucked. With Type-0, XIII-2, Deus Ex, Tomb Raider, Versus coming out SE is just going to go higher on my list of fav devs. Long live SE! Sales wise....Michael-5 pretty much ended the argument there lol

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

Square Enix is simply not producing good games anymore. The peaked with the Soulblazer series and the genius Chrono Trigger just burned up all their creativity in one final big flare.

Since then, the decline has been rather obvious.
