iPhone is garbage for games and I don't see an Apple home console being any better. I'm not going to buy an iGame just to play Angry Birds on the big screen.

Americas and UK are the biggest and most important markets it matters which is bigger there. Its doing better in EMEAA thanks to places like Middle East, its still alot closer than it should be since the first Xbox didnt even sell that well in EMEAA and now its not far off from PS3. Theres only a gap of 2 million.
Theyve sold more than 4.5 million more PS3s than Xbox in Japan, if it wasnt for Japan the gap between the two consoles would be 9 million. So use some common sense.
If it wasnt for Halo Xbox would never have took off, it was all because of Halo that the Xbox is now as big as it is. Halo is far more popular than any PS3 franchise.
@Biddles
GT has sold much more than Halo.
I've noticed how you are talking as if games matter the most for a console's success, but that's not correct,it's the PRICE.
The PS3 is in 3rd place because of one reason, and only ONE.It was priced way higher than X360/Wii at launch. Not because of huge franchises like Halo/Gears of War,or whatever you say.And by the way,the PS3 has been selling better than the 360 since the PS3's release,so everything you've been saying up to this point is pretty much invalid.
Just how things changed completely this generation compared to previous ones, the same can happen next generation.Or maybe you can guarantee me that such thing ain't possible?Have a good day.

Gran Turismo was on a console that sold well over 100 million copies, the original Xbox only sold 25 million copies. Halo 3 has outsold all the GT games execpt for GT3 which was bundled anyway. GT5 isnt outselling Halo Reach either.
I actually mentioned the price, thats why i said if the PS4 comes out $100 more expensive than the Xbox 720 itll have no chance because Xbox has most of the games the PS3 has anyway.
The orignal price cost them big time, but its not that way anymore and Xbox is still doing better. Since the PS3 came out the Xbox has sold 44 million units the PS3 45 million units, its practically the exact same.
Its a huge difference from when the PS2 sold over 5x as many Xbox' to now when PS3 is barely even with the Xbox 360. Xbox soared in popularity, PS stooped in popularity, if that continues next gen Sony is out.
I believe it's entirely possible, but in mobile form. Console race would seem awkward, but if there were rumors, I'd believe them.
All of this, of course, is just my opinion.
Skyrim 100%'d. Dark Souls 100%'d.
Dark Souls > Skyrim.
Halo 4 is the best damn FPS since Halo 3.
Proud pre-orderer of 2 PS4's and an Xbox One.

Currently Playing: Dark Souls II, South Park
Playstation 4: MGS V GZ, Killzone: Shadow Fall, NBA 2k14.

Doubt it. 2d mario games alone cannot warrant a console purchase alone. Luckily though, Nintendo has many other ips that are critically acclaimed.(DKC, Zelda, etc.) |
You don;t recall the huge boost that NSMB Wii gave, not to mention the huge sales generated by the bundled SMB on the NES, SMB is a huge system seller, bundle it for the sales

Halo is more popular than any Sony franchise, I agree with you there, but the 360 relies to much on 3rd party support. Look at their game lineup for 2011. Theywould be absolutely devastated if something disrupted the flow of the 3rd party software on their platform. Regardless, the ps3 is outselling the 360 in EMEAA and Japan, as opposed to the 360 outselling in the Americas. America will not be the largest market forever, and when other countries ovetake them, in that aspect, Sony will have a headstart.

With how it is right now theres only going to be more and more multi platform games. Thats where the money is now. America will be the biggest market for years, in EMEAA its split more evenly anyway. Japan are losing interest in consoles like the PS3.
The PS3 has done awful in Japan, not only in Hardware but in Software only 1 PS3 game has sold 1 million copies as opposed to 21 on PS2.

PS3 has an edge in EMEAA and Japan even with the Kinect and Slim, so they most definately have those markets locked down. Japan may be losing interest in consoles, but do not expect them to disappear anytime soon. What I am trying to say though, is thatif someone like Apple manages to get 3rd party support, the xbox will not be able to support itself with its current 1st party software.
