DO NOT VOTE IN THE POLL BEFORE TAKING THE TEST.
Thanks to Machina, one of my few fellow top-rights on VGChartz, for the permission. Don't know what a top-right is? Read on.
We tend to measure people's political opinions on a one-dimensional scale: left to right, but this isn't really getting the full picture. We can call Stalin left-wing and Hitler right-wing, despite the fact that they are both authoritarians and in that sense very similar. Also left-wing are Gandhi and the Dalai Lama, but they're nothing like Stalin. Similarly, a "far right" party such as the British National Party is actually less neo-liberal than a "centrist" party such as the American Democrats.
We really need two scales, to measure two very different things.
Economic Policy: From left (communism and socialism; government control of all industry and land) to right (free-market capitalism; individual control of all industry and land)
Social Policy: From bottom (liberalism) to top (authoritarianism).
Enter the political compass.
Click the links on the left of the page to read more about the two-dimensional political classification system, and click "Take the Test" to try it for yourself. Then, scroll down to see your results and paste them here, including both the numbers and the graph.
We've had a similar thread to this in the past, but political opinions can always change.
