Forums - Microsoft - 360 doing well in other asian regions

Uberian said:
Dear Ookaze I am sorry that you completely misread my post, but next time please read it at least twice or one word at a time. There are several things that you have misunderstood there and I will point out one by one: 1. I have pointed out more then one time that the number I supplied was only forum hits, and its only there for to indicate a very very rough number of people are are day-to-day interested in talking about certain console and there for to get a rough idea of the popularity of each console. 2. I am not desparate to make Xbox 360 as a success, I am not an employee of Microsoft and I do not feel that the success of xbox 360 will fullfill my life. 3. NDS is not a console, it is been called a handheld system for a reason. There are many aspect they should be viewed differently but please allow me to skip the details here. If you think they are the same then I doubt there will be much need for us to interact in regards to gaming in the future. 4. By accusing me saying I said that people getting tired of JRPG, I almost need to make a new list just for this remark alone, but I will make it brief. I said asian tired of not getting languge support, its not about Japanese and its not about JRPG so I am really confused where you get this from. 5. I did not said "Mistwalker" is the best studio, I simply said 3 individual behind this project are remarkable in their own right in their given field and usually those names alone can move sales as far as Japan goes. What "tickles" me was that first you accused me of making a personal opinion of give high praise for certain studio (even its misunderstanding) then right after that you went ahead and give me one of your own personal opinion about a particular studio, I am sorry but I simply do not get your logic. That will be all that I can offer you back, sorry for the long post.

Instead of telling me BS, read my post better and notice that I'm the one making people remember that you were talking about forum hits, when most people used your numbers as console sales. Strangely enough, you never corrected them, but go telling me I've not read your post correctly.

Then you go on telling me I should read your post one word at a time like you were a native english speaker. All of that just conforted me in what you really are. But guys like you are easy to spot.

Won't fool me.

1. Forum hits are completely useless to gauge console popularity, especially when you take only one forum, who can be skewed towards one particular console. It's completely delusional to use such a shaky ground to gauge consoles interest in a country. Only someone with an agenda would do that.

2. Just convinced me of what you are really now. Yeah right, you are not an employee of MS, astroturfers and shills are not either, they're just paid by MS.

3. DS is a console, DS is cited in console sales in both NPD and Media Create. Only fanboys can't fathom the truth. Go check both of these, you will see console handhelds right there. We separate sales of home ones and handhelds because of different trends, but they are both consoles.

4. "Game Trend (There are more and more asian players start to accept Western style games such as GoW, Halo, GTA, Mass Effect, Bioshock didn't do that good to my personal dismay =( and if I dare say some even got tired of JRPGs ! Oh my god I said it)"

Guess who said that ...

5. "The founder and producer for Final Fantasy, as well as reknowed Manga author for character design and star music producer. You simply just can't find better team then this. It has been speculated that it should have been the RPG of the year and even for the year to come in japan if it were simply released on a japanese console."

Guess who said that again! And I left you alone with it, but now I can't: you contradict yourself, you and korean players, by saying that they complain about no native language, and then will, like true fanboys (which should have all hinted us on the kind of korean forum you visit) that they will sign up (!!!!) to buy both japanese and english version of the game (notice none have korean as main language), and sure enough, the goal is not to promote a korean version of the game. I see too explanations: these guys are nonsensical, or ...

And my post could have only tickled one kind of people, the one precisely I thought you were.

And yes, it's scary that I spot guys like you from a mile away!

Around the Network

yeah, i actually have observed somewhat similar trends. last time i went back to visit macau and hong kong, i was absolutely stunned--that my cousin owned a 360. and he was talking about ... gears of war or some FPS. i couldn't believe it.

i don't know how software sales go though. it's all pirated copies anyway, so not gonna contribute to the bottom line of these companies very much.

and yes, PES is a big deal. he's planning on buying a PS3 just for PES. i told him 360 also has PES, but he said the PS3 version is gonna be better despite everything i've read about it.

the Wii is an epidemic.

First: As I read it, Uberian is Taiwanese, not Korean. His first post says: 'I came from Taiwan'. Second: He said nothing about buying the japanese version, he said he is sick that his country gets no localization by the japanese companies. What Uberian said was: 'P.S there is a thread right now having people signing up from all over taiwan and Hong Kong that we are going to purchase both English and Chinese version of Lost Odyssy to show our support of the game.' And you say him, he should read your post correctly? Shame on you!

I remember Koei did a presentation at CEDEC (some kind of Japanese developer business gathering) that showed numbers for Taiwan and S. Korea.

The 360 was 102,000 in Taiwan, 136,000 in S. Korea.
The PS3 was 47,000 in Taiwan, 5,000 in S. Korea.
The Wii was officially zero in both, since it hadn't been launched there yet.

I want to say, that I can understand why People from Taiwan, Hong Kong and Korea are angry about the missing support from japanese companies (if it is so). I'm from europe, and the bad PAL-conversion of many games was crazy in the past. Many games even were slower, because of the different frequency in PAL and NTSC. And we got most often black bars at top and bottom of the screen, because PAL-resolution is higher than NTSC-resolution. That's the main reason, because I was a PC-gamer most of the time.

Atleast he was trying to be civil with you, and all other posters. You could try to do the same thing for him.
1. Forum hits are completely useless to gauge console popularity, especially when you take only one forum, who can be skewed towards one particular console. It's completely delusional to use such a shaky ground to gauge consoles interest in a country. Only someone with an agenda would do that.
Maybe his agenda is to respond to people that are trying to hijack his thread and bash him?
3. DS is a console, DS is cited in console sales in both NPD and Media Create. Only fanboys can't fathom the truth. Go check both of these, you will see console handhelds right there. We separate sales of home ones and handhelds because of different trends, but they are both consoles.
The DS and PSP are handheld consoles. Not standard consoles. Many, many people refer to the Wii/PS3/X360 as "consoles" and DS/PSP systems as "handheld". Did you not know this?
Guess who said that again! And I left you alone with it, but now I can't: you contradict yourself, you and korean players, by saying that they complain about no native language, and then will, like true fanboys (which should have all hinted us on the kind of korean forum you visit) that they will sign up (!!!!) to buy both japanese and english version of the game (notice none have korean as main language), and sure enough, the goal is not to promote a korean version of the game. And he's Taiwanese, which uses a different language and support than Japanese games. Maybe their goal is to support a good, quality product, and get them to release a sequal, with hopefully better Korean and Taiwanese support, since appearently the X360 is doing well there? Ookaze, stop being such a X360-basher. You obviously have absolutely no interest in the system. Your wonderful signature proves that. Why are you here? To attack new forum posters from countries that have very small (and growing) gaming populations? This guy is new, and he's here to try to post legitimate threads without being assaulted by fanboys such as your self. Please stop attacking this person who's shown you nothing but respect.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Mr Ookaze

I found myself fight hard to let go the urge to counter attack everything you have posted. It feels like you are arguing with air from my point of view because a. my english is just so bad I mislead everyone or b. you are really really not reading my post for the sake of trying to grisp an understanding rather just trying to find something to fight about.

It is a shame that nothing constructive can be gained from our little interation and from here and now I will ignore any of your replies.

Have a nice day
