Also, with all this debate, I find it interesting that the most touted game on the Playstation 3 is a 3rd party exclusive. MGS4. There are a good amount of titles that are good, and exclusive to the PS3 from first party studios. However, the best selling, and highest rated games this generation are either 3rd party or multiplats.
MGS4, Bioshock, Modern Warfare, Fallout 3, Oblivion, Mass Effect 2, The Orange Box.
Of the top 10 highest rated games on the PS3, only 2 are from internal studios, and if you go further down that list, the ratio gets much smaller. If the PS3's library only consisted of games from internal studios, it would have an absolutely terrible library. Much worse than that of the Wii, even if we only counted HALF of the games on the Wii developed by internal studios.
The PS3 and the 360 both have great, great libraries, but as fanboys and fangirls, we have a tendency to compare them, and when we compare the PS3 to the 360, the only differences come in the form of games the other console doesn't have, exclusive or not. The differences are small, so we need to magnify them for our arguments to matter. Internal studios are the only real games that matter in this argument, but they are hardly the only games that matter. In fact, as far as games go, they usually sell(except for Nintendo) worse than their more widely accepted 3rd party counterparts, like GTAIV, Modern Warfare, Fallout 3, Arkham Asylum, MGS4, Street Fighter 4, Oblivion, RDR, Call of Duty in general, and the like. Exceptions being games like GT and anything from Nintendo.
Talking a big game about internal studios is nice, but imagine if an internal studio developed anyone of the games I've just mentioned. Imagine how big of a deal that would be and how much of a boon that would be for one console over another. Imagine if your console couldn't play Arkham Asylum. THAT would be some shit. MGS4 is an example of a 3rd party exclusive that trumps pretty much every internal studio game yet released. 3rd party stuff, is the most important stuff and the amount of it vastly outnumbers the comparitive internal studios of any of the big 3, except arguably Nintendo, who also know all to well the value of good 3rd party support.
