Forums - Sales - Okay we got to discuss this - Wii/Sales

This is what you get when you cater to people who aren't gamers. They made their money and success off people who don't care about the industry. The type of people who only buy what's "trendy" and "cool". Those people have very short attention spans and they're moving on.

The core gamers, the ones who made their company what it is today, the ones who have been on board since the NES/SNES days, they've mostly moved on so it's not like Nintendo can just switch it up and say "we're sorry". It's too late and so, they're going to have to lay in the bed they made.

Hopefully they learn their lesson next generation.

Pretty much this. Also isn't wii doing pretty much what the ps3 is doing. So does that mean we need to talk about ps3 sales as well?

The Wii is the console leader, PS3 is in last place, this must be a first for a console leader to decline this rapidly in such a short period of time. And the PS3 has nothing to do with this thread so don't drag it into it, I'd like to keep  this a flame war free thread please.

Actually the Wii is tracking slightly above the PS2 so I guess that the PS2 was a failure...

The HD consoles are having abnormal sales, the Wii is following the trend that market leaders have.

In any case, I'm pretty confident that the Wii will compensate these low numbers on the holiday season.

this is a Wii only thread

Wii isn't following any trend, and neither is the 360 or ps3..

in fact the Wii is down over 50% of it's sales YTD, and hte ps2 was never that low compared to YTD during it's prime..

Your missing my point completely, the PS2 completely dominated the competition like every console leader has done. The generation has got to be the most even generation right now then any other.

Last year Wii's lowest sales occured around late September, we've only just crossed into August, so heaven knows how low they're going to go over the next 2 months.

Possibly sub 125k??

The Wii hasn't had a big game since NSMBW, and this time last year was when Wii Sports Resort came out. Of course sales are going to be lower. Besides, the Wii traditionally sells a shitload of units towards the end of the year. I'll admit though, even though the Wii will still win this generation, Nintendomination might be ending.

Wii has already had its bigger system sellers: really with two Wii Fit, two Wii Sports, a 2d Mario, 2 3d Mario and possibly every kind of casual or Nintendo game already out what could Nintendo do? Nothing, they should just start milking the users before it's too late: a redesign with bundles, a Players Choice and new colors should move the Wii into a safe territory...But the Wii is declining and will never return to 2008, not without third party support, without the games that many people want and won't find on Wii.

Its the sharpest decline ever I think, but that happens because this is a completely different gen, with a new market and with Nintendo on top again. Wii is selling like PS2 after 4 years, but considering in 2008 and the most of 2009 it was way better next year will sell probably worse and will just go down and down.

Again, Nintendo can't do anything now other then buying exclusives or trying to convince third parties to port big projects on Wii.

CURRENTLY PLAYING: Xenoblade (Wii), Super mario 3D land (3DS), Guild Wars (PC)

wow, talk about a bunch of doom and gloom when Wii is doing just fine. Its following a typical trend with no big game push.

Whereas the 360 is still sitting pretty off of its recent changes and the PS3 had a bump due to new game in Japan. In the next week or so both will be back to far lower levels below Wii and once again during holidays Wii will outsell them significantly.

Wii will always be the market leader overall and yearly until all three have new consoles out.

Hell, Wii's lowest sales per any given or forecasted year (excluding launch year due to 2mo of sales) is still greater than any yearly performance of PS360 or even forecasts to have.
