How about screen size and multiplayer? When you're at home it's nice to play on a big screen, and multiplayer with portables requires a console for each player and a copy of the game for each one too.

lol wut? Ps2 sold more than GBA, I don't know what's your point (and sony fans made it a HUGE deal out of it).  Ps2 = Videogame console. Purpose: Play videogames. DS= Videogame Console. Purpose: Play videogames..... ???

Is not the "Ninty fans"that need to calm down... is just that the Sony fans should accept that there is a chance that the ps2 is gonna lose the tittle for Best selling videogame console. And no, we are not comparing PC, Mobiles, or iPhones... we are comparing 2 videogame consoles.

DS is the king of handhels... soon [there's a good chance] to be, King of videogame Consoles.

The 142 million figure includes millions of units that were manufactured but never sold - they were given to people for free under the warranty. This is due to Sony's past habit of reporting units manufactured, whereas now they report untis shipped to retailers, as do Nintendo with their consoles. The difference is 6.15 million.

Holy Sh!t!! The DS will surely pass that by this holiday and the end of the year.

I wouldn't be surprised when a handheld outsells a home console , but I would when a home console outsells a handheld (ps2 vs gba).

Dude.. it's not that crazy of a comparison.. They are both video game systems. They are both listed on this site. Why the hell shouldn't they be compared? It's just a fun little harmless comparison, no need to get weird about it.

They are the two most successul video game systems, so of course they are going to be compared by people..

I hope so. The DS is a brilliant machine and deserves to take the PlayStation 2's crown.

The VGChartz PS2 numbers are incorrect. Since it doesnt track all territorys. 136 Million was reached long ago. BTW its not allowed to track replaced consoles as sold UNLESS the customer had to pay for the replacment if the warranty was expired. Dont know who said it but I would appreciate a link, aslong as I remember it would be illegal to increase the numbers in such a way since the (potential) shareholders would be fooled.

Dont know if DS will outsell it, it depends how big the Drop off will be after 3DS launched PS2 is about 15 Million ahead. So it can be reached pretty quick. Sony cant say we sold xxx Million PS2 when in reality they sold less. Thats illegal and there are rules what can be count and what not you can count a device which was replaced but only if the Customer paid for it atleast the production costs.

Same for the DS and any other platform.
