That is the answer to the question of the title of this thread

So. Let me get this right. Some Nintendo fans are angry because...

Sony's remote is black, while the Wii's is white.

Sony's has a wireless sub-controller, the Wii's doesn't.

Sony's has a big coloured ball on the end, the Wii's doesn't.

Sony's uses a camera to work, the Wii's doesn't.

Sony's is more accurate than the Wii's.

Sony's cannot be tilted to be used like a traditional controller, the Wii's can.

OT:
I think it's more to do with the more hardcore Wii fanbase being worried of 3rd parties reaction to it. If it sells well enough, we could see 3rd parties show even less attention to the Wii. ESPECIALLY if Natal takes off too. I predict lots of butthurt talk after E3, if Natal is looking good...

Looks don't matter. It's the same thing, it just looks different.

Nintendo could've made the Nunchuck wireless if they wanted too, but they didn't.

Of course Move will be more accurate! Technology always gets better as time goes on.

If Nintendo wanted to make entirely new and more accurate controllers, they could. But instead of making customers buy entirely new controllers, they made Motion+

If looks don't matter than why did you post a pointless picture showing how the 2 controllers look?

ignore them they are all butt hurt because the wiimote is not as good as ps move, as it has augmented reality and it can also do some things that natal can do like body tracking, notice how no-one is attacking natal, it looks like ps move may well be more succesful then we all think and the ninty fans now that which is why they keep on attacking it.

not to mention it already has better games for it, even though wm+ has been around for a while and all they got was wii sports resort that was worth getting i mean all that for a £40 add on i would be pissed off as well, which is why i did not bother with wm+ and will just get ps move instead

Excuse me, but I'm pretty sure Sony hasn't released Move yet, so who are you to say that Move is better than the Wii? Yes, you've seen commercials, interviews, etc..., but those things only show the positive aspects of the product. It's like an advertisement. You don't know everything you're getting until you actually get it. You can't say that Move is better than Wii because Move hasn't been released yet, you don't know how successful it's going to be, and you don't know how well it's going to work. Yes, the Wii seemed amazing, but it didn't live up to my full expectations, but that's because my expectations were raised by all the hype, the commercials, and everything else. But the Wii still is amazing, don't get me wrong, it's just that sometimes people think something "sucks" because they had their expectations too high.

The most controversy regarding Move is still caused by the same thing that triggered it right after its official announcement at GDC earlier this year. People saw Move and its games and called it a copy of the Wii and its games (rightly so considering all the similarities) which was followed by several threads made by Sony enthusiasts claiming that this isn't the case.

A couple of months ago I explained what my problem with Move is, but in hindsight I realize that I worded it wrongly. I said that Sony fans should admit that Move is a blatant copy of the Wii and its games, but that is the wrong thing to ask for.

When you look at threads that deal solely with the Move's games, there won't be many posts as the interest in Move is generally low, including the official thread which is still below 100 posts I think. But whenever it's mentioned that Move is a copy/not a copy you can be sure that it will be a long and controversial thread (unless a mod steps in and closes it down).

If everyone accepts that Sony is following Nintendo with Move (Sony fans not denying it and Nintendo fans not feeling the need to rub it in in every thread), then there shouldn't be much conflict at all anymore.

Except Sony didn't copy Nintendo . That's like saying Turn 10 copied Gran Turismo with Forza. It may be true because of GT success Turn 10 decided to make a racing sim. Turn 10 didn't copy but tried to make something better than GT series. So far I say Turn 10 did a good job.

That's like claiming Wii-mote copied  TrackIR because both have a camera that tracks IR light.

That right there is the baffling thing. Despite Sony themselves clearly stating that they are going after the Wii market and their games supporting this statement, some Sony fans are still in denial.

No, I don't demand everyone to say that Sony is following Nintendo, I just want people to stop claiming that Sony isn't following Nintendo because that is not true at all. See the post above yours, that's what I am speaking of.

yes, you already made it clear what you want, but you should realize it is not going to happen, because for every reasonable fan there are at least a dozen unreasonable ones. i suppose you know that, but will it stop you from arguing?

but that aside, the problem is also in the details.

"Sony follows Nintendo" is a very general statement that people might be able to agree on, but what does it mean to the individual? Does it mean Sony has seen the casual trend towards motion control and developed their own version, or does it mean, they just "blatantly" copied the wiimote? Both statements could be regard as "not true at all" it only depends on your point of view.

I stayed out of Move threads since quite some time now, precisely because I know that it's just going to be same thing all over again. Some people choose what they want to believe even if the evidence presented to them goes against this belief, like Sony's very own statements.

You were asking the question what would Nintendo fans make stop posting in every Move thread and I gave you an answer why Move even became such a bid deal despite a clear lack of interest for the Move's games from pretty much all sides. The main problem was and is not Sony making a product with games that look a lot like the Wii, it's the double standards that are thrown around by some Sony fans. On one hand they argue that Move is not a copy only to then go into a Natal thread and call it a copy of Sony's Eyetoy. Or how motion controls are good to have now, but previously weren't.

This problem isn't going to go anytime soon, if ever. It can be ignored, but that doesn't mean it will go away. And for that reason most Move threads are bound to degenerate into a "copy or not a copy" debate. Although that's only going to be a real problem for those people who actually want to discuss the Move's games which, judging by amount of posts of the official thread, aren't that many.

Im a Sony fan and i'll be the first to say MOVE is a copy, but in Sony's defense if they could make it better, more power to them. I have a WII and my main problem with it is its not as accurate as they were saying it was. Its not that I hate games like WiiSports, I hate when Im doing something and it doesnt translate becasue of the subpar tech. sucks the fn out of it. If Sony could do it better then I'll get their copy, shovelware and all

Once again, you, like many other people, set your expectations too high. Nothing's perfect. Commercials, hype from other people, and other advertising make it look like something is better than it is. But that's what the companies want you to think. Nintendo never said the Wiimote alone would be 1:1. They said it would feel like the real thing. They never said it was the real thing. Sony's done the same thing. They've made it seem like Move is so amazing that it will be the best thing ever. I will admit that Move is a step up from Wii in terms of technology, but I still think there will be many problems and complaints with the controlling. I can garuntee it, because nothing's perfect. I can garuntee that there will be people whose expectations are set so high that when they actually experience Move, they will think it's nothing like they thought it would be, and they will say "Move sucks." and the arguments will start over. It's a cycle of people never being satisfied with what they've got.

Because wait a second.

Seece gets to use the word fanboys and doesn't get banned but I do? What the hell mods. What the fucking hell.

Oh and by the way Ninty fans, stop bitching about Move. It's as dumb as Revolution motion control was in 2005. WE HAVE ZELDA. Who cares about anything else?

I might as well clarify this point.

Using the word "fanboys" in a general sense is fine. Using it to refer to specific people isn't.

What do you expect Sony to do here?

Nintendo's made an incredibly successful product. Sony didn't think it would be successful, so they ridiculed it. Then, they ridiculed it out of fear, fear that their multitude of original IPs and HD graphics were getting beaten by motion control.

Then it DID take off, and naturally Sony (and Microsoft) wanted a piece of the motion control pie. The technology was there, but it had been left on the backburner. Nintendo convinced Sony that motion control was worth investing in, so they did, and they had to save SOME face, so they said that the Wiimote was casual and Move is a hardcore experience.

As for people saying the Wiimote was a gimmick and Move is Sony's gift to mankind, I have doubts about the existence of these people. I haven't encountered any. And if they do exist, just ignore them. There are...overly enthiusiastic fans on all sides.
