Forums - Nintendo - How would you increase VC/WiiWare sales?

Most of the suggestions I'll make have already been mentioned, but I think it is such an interesting topic I'll add it anyway.

- Reformatting Wii Shop Channel- make it more intuitive, allow all companies to be able to add demos if they want, more info on games, have sales and allow permanently discounted prices for older games. Also allow for user ratings and to be able to search by them.

- Get more people to connect the Wii online- Maybe include the USB ethernet cable standard with the system, bring the incentives program to get friends to hook up to the internet to America. Have more retail games take advantage of online play.

- Advertising- On the Wii menu system have adds for new games. Maybe a couple of TV ads. Promotions like the recent 500 points with Monster Hunter Tri preorder/purchase (I think this should be something that Nintendo does more often). Give away Super Mario Bros./NES game for free for downloading Nintendo channel.

I think content wise Nintendo has a really great service, Virtual Console has tons of classics, and WiiWare has became one of my favorite features on Wii because it has tons of unique quality titles. In fact imo the Wii has the best content of the 3 systems as far as downloable games go. But Nintendo stil has a ways to go in learning how to properly market the service.

I think the deal they did with MHTri was smart, too. I agree they should do more of that.

I think getting a free game for downloading the Nintendo Channel would also be a wise move, incentive-wise.

Bah!

price cuts. I also can't find wii points anywhere.

"Everything we hear is an opinion, not a fact. Everything we see is a perspective, not the truth." -My good friend Mark Aurelius

I once sent them an e-mail suggesting that every week, the change the "over 500 titles available" message every week. Not the message itself, but it only shows Tetris Party. Why not alternate every week between a VC, and a WW game? it shouldn't cost that much to change the image, like what....a penny? XD

I assume you never heard anything back? Not even a standard, generated response?

Bah!

I would do what Sony did and release WiiWare download cards. That way to encourage Wiishop existince and connections. Since to get the game onto your Wii is to connect and download.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

I'm not familiar with PSN. How does the WiiWare download card work, exactly?

Bah!

Slightly cheaper. Continue and expand upon the demos that they had late last year.

Have days once a month where a couple of games go on special, 100-200 points, with messages to remind people. It will get people on the channel.

Give a free 500 points to anyone who registers their birthday, they could combine this with emails to people on your friend list, suggesting that a game might make a good gift. Basically try and get game gifting on a roll.

Make points available in more increments than they are currently available. I don't know how many times i've ended up with 2/3/400 points, I would have bought another game right there and then if I could top up to 500 points without having to buy more points than I wanted.
