losing his fans ?

why fans would stop liking Sony ? they will stop make "hardcore" game in 2011 ?

by allocating budgets on aiming "casual" instead of "hardcore" Sony is indeed making less "hardcore" games in 201X

When Nintendo released the Wii hundreds of people posted on this forum that they left Nintendo and bought a PS3. Unless they are liars or hypocrits we should be seeing some of them leave the PS3 now. Heck, we have an ex-Nintendo fanboy right in this thread

I wasnt browsing these forums at the time, but is there any chance that was because Nintendo released a slight PS2 upgrade hardware-wise, with wireless inet.. but crummy online features? Maybe it wasnt the motion control.. but maybe it was.

Personally I abandoned the Wii, because it did not get much I wanted to play. But TBH, after MGS4 and Disgaea3 my PS3 collected dust until last fall.

But I do not think Sony will lose fans over Move. I also do not think they are targetting the "casual" market so much with it, it would appear that ta big push will be towards motion control in FPS games. Sure there is that on Wii, but on PS3 it can be brought to a whole new level and popularized.

I know what many of you are saying.  You're saying that amp316 is a Nintendo guy and he is just here to troll on Sony, but honestly that's not the case.  Hear me out and see if you agree with anything that I 'm saying because I am trying to bring up some valid and unbiased points.

First off, I would like to say that I do not have a negative attitude to Sony Move and the Subcontroller because they resemble the Wii Remote and the Nunchuck.  I understand that Sony is trying to use the best available technology out there and use it to their advantage.  Imitation happens.  This is true with every worthwile invention that's ever been.  If it weren't, only Ford would make cars.

What I think that the major problem is with Sony's direction is not the fact that they're embracing motion controls, but it's the way that they are doing it.  Let's just say that being a Wii owner, many of the games that they showed at their press conference look a bit TOO familiar.  I'll list a few:

The Shoot:  This is a light gun shooter and the Wii has several of those.

Sports Champions:  It showed three events in the game which were archery, swordfighting, and  table tennis which looked similar to archery, swordfighting and table tennis that I have played on another system.

Motion Fighter:  This looks like Wii Boxing but with better graphics.

Move Party:  This involved odd looking minigames like blowing chickens into a basket with a fan and cutting and dying hair.  It reminded me of Wario Ware: Smooth Moves.

My point is that coming out with the same exact thing and putting a fresh coat of paint on it is insulting Sony's fan's intelligence in my opinion.  Also, as far as I know, most Sony fans don't like the Wii so why would they like any of these sort of games?  I don't think that they would.  Furthermore, if they think that they are going to take away the casual fan from the Wii they are sorely mistaken.  Nintendo already owns that audience.

My final point is this.  Sony fans like Sony.  Nintendo fans like Nintendo.  What Sony is doing reminds me of when Coca-Cola introduced New Coke because they were losing to Pepsi at the time.  They made Coke taste more like Pepsi and no one liked it.  People that liked Coke still wanted Coke and not Pepsi in a Coke can.  Sony is turning into the New Coke and will be in trouble unless they bring back Coca-Cola Classic.

Best available technology - imitation happens? - What a bullshit, the technology is completly different and the only similarity is the fact that both Nintendo and Sony controller looks like dildo, not a valid point.

If it weren't, only Ford would make cars. - Maybe you're trying to be patriotic, but Ford didn't invented the car, nor did he invent the moving assembly line which allowed mass production.

Many games looks too familiar. - FIFA / PES, Virtua Tennis / Grand Slam Tennis, Sonic Super Star Racing / Mario Kart Wii, Sony Sports / Wii Sports. What's that for an argument?

There is not a single valid argument, the feeling I get from it is insecurity that someone is doing something like Nintendo and few dozens of other 3rd party developers, but in HD with more precision.

MY HYPE LIST: 1) Gran Turismo 5; 2) Civilization V; 3) Starcraft II; 4) The Last Guardian; 5) Metal Gear Solid: Rising

I think the OP is missing the point of what Sony is doing. They are trying to attract new consumers by adding features to an already amazing system. As long as they still produce traditional controlled games they won't lose a single fan. There is nothing bad about adding a optional feature. If I don't like the Move, I don't have to buy it, I don't have that choice with the Wii.

And if you and most other Sony fans don't buy Move, how much more money is that that Sony flushed down the toilet?

Sony is definitely copying Nintendo here, that's for sure.

But I don't really think because of it Sony will lose many (if any) fans. I think core Sony fans will be able to just shrug this off like they should. I don't think the lame party games are Sony's fault either. Motion controls = lame party games.

I could care less! There will be a PS4 regardless of the success of Move.  Motion controlls arn't for everyone.  I personally hope it fails.  I don't want controls like the Wiimote, Move, Natal.

And since you couldn't care less and hope that it fails they will lose more and more money and if this keeps happening they might not make a PS5.

I don't wish failure for anything Nintendo, even if I don't like it.  Honestly, the Wii Vitality Sensor looks like crap, but I hope that it sells billions.

It is because Nintendo "abandoned the hardcore". Essentially, you either are casual, hardcore, or a nintendo fanboy.

Now, I don't believe that Nintendo lost a lot of real fans either. I think most people who said they left either had their parents buy their systems and they had no input, they didn't care for Nintendo in the first place, or they were liars. Obviously there will be some people who actually left Nintendo who were "hardcore" and there will be plenty of "casual" people who buy whatever is the big thing. However, if you aren't a fan of Nintendo, then you never should have owned a GC in the first place, as that didn't have a lot of 3rd party support either.

I really don't think Sony will lose fans over the Move, but with all the people who used to cry Nintendo abandoned the hardcore actually lived up to what they believed, then we'd be seeing people cry over the PS3 too. However, I do agree with the OP that Sony is being stupid and should stop trying to copy Nintendo's "causal" games as launch titles. I like motion controls and would actually consider buying the Move if they actually put a handful of games out that I'm interested in. As it stands, the title count is 0.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

No it won't you want to know why, it's simple because motion controls are optional and not forced upon us all, Sony is doing it right and is releasing both casual and hardcore games, I lost track of how long I waited for a hardcore game on my Wii (apart from Nintendo games)
