I wasnt browsing these forums at the time, but is there any chance that was because Nintendo released a slight PS2 upgrade hardware-wise, with wireless inet.. but crummy online features? Maybe it wasnt the motion control.. but maybe it was.
Personally I abandoned the Wii, because it did not get much I wanted to play. But TBH, after MGS4 and Disgaea3 my PS3 collected dust until last fall.
But I do not think Sony will lose fans over Move. I also do not think they are targetting the "casual" market so much with it, it would appear that ta big push will be towards motion control in FPS games. Sure there is that on Wii, but on PS3 it can be brought to a whole new level and popularized.
