I wasnt browsing these forums at the time, but is there any chance that was because Nintendo released a slight PS2 upgrade hardware-wise, with wireless inet.. but crummy online features? Maybe it wasnt the motion control.. but maybe it was.

Personally I abandoned the Wii, because it did not get much I wanted to play. But TBH, after MGS4 and Disgaea3 my PS3 collected dust until last fall.

But I do not think Sony will lose fans over Move. I also do not think they are targetting the "casual" market so much with it, it would appear that ta big push will be towards motion control in FPS games. Sure there is that on Wii, but on PS3 it can be brought to a whole new level and popularized.

It is because Nintendo "abandoned the hardcore". Essentially, you either are casual, hardcore, or a nintendo fanboy.

Now, I don't believe that Nintendo lost a lot of real fans either. I think most people who said they left either had their parents buy their systems and they had no input, they didn't care for Nintendo in the first place, or they were liars. Obviously there will be some people who actually left Nintendo who were "hardcore" and there will be plenty of "casual" people who buy whatever is the big thing. However, if you aren't a fan of Nintendo, then you never should have owned a GC in the first place, as that didn't have a lot of 3rd party support either.

I really don't think Sony will lose fans over the Move, but with all the people who used to cry Nintendo abandoned the hardcore actually lived up to what they believed, then we'd be seeing people cry over the PS3 too. However, I do agree with the OP that Sony is being stupid and should stop trying to copy Nintendo's "causal" games as launch titles. I like motion controls and would actually consider buying the Move if they actually put a handful of games out that I'm interested in. As it stands, the title count is 0.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy
