Although I only know this person from this article he made, I'm 99% sure he's never been in any type of business marketing whatsoever judging by the "holes" he left.

Well I have, the only hole I can see is he is underestimating how ill informed the American public can be, they may mistake it for an Xbox exclusive after seeing this advert, however, I do not think that this will make much of an impact considering that anyone who is already planning to get the game will know that it is multiplatform and that the PS3 version come on only 1 disk.

The holes you have found must be very minor since there is nothing else I can see that would possible give MS any kind of real advantage even within the US.

If I were Microsoft, I would be spending the advertising money on first party games to try and broaden their appeal.

If you were Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo you would probably have the lowest selling console whichever company you were directing.

Btw the insult on the American public is not cool.

That was not an insult, simply an observation.

Secondly, you have given no evidence to back up your claims

An observation huh? An ignorant observation, yes.

Microsoft didn't keep 2nd place with a more profitable console by being stupid for this long... obviously they know more than you about where best to spend their own money.

Tease.

The OP is probably the only one on VG chartz who had the balls to question MS's tatics. Although, I don't agree with "People don't want to get up and switch discs" or something like that

Favorite films. Foreign films forever!

Sony Selective Memory Syndrome is making a come back on these forums. You do realize that these are the exact same tactics that Sony used to become number one in the industry right?

Of course Microsoft is desperate.

They wouldn't be marketing multiplatform games if they weren't desperate. 95% of PS3 and 360 gamers that are BUYING the game already know it's for both consoles. Sony doesn't even need to market the game, or bring bundles. They are confident it will outsell the 360 version in NA and Others.

Microsoft should start focusing on advertising 1st party games.

Thanks for helping Sony sell more copies, Microsoft.

Good article.

I find all these consumer-centric opinion articles to be so ill-prepared when questioning was it worth it from the business perspective.

You may not think it was worth Microsoft paying for timed-exclusive Bioshock but hey look at the numbers! Fuck yeah it was worth it - extra console sales and 2 million more games sold. They're going to keep doing it and people will continue to complain like they're wasting their money.

Well excuse me OP, but isn't the US the best chance Microsoft has of selling FFXIII in the west? If I had money I would throw it at the game as well. What do you expect them to do, lay down and die to Sony? At least a company has the money to throw instead of holding the Japanese end of the industry hostage because of last gens dominance and devs dependence on the sales of biased Japanese consumers.

We still get Final Fantasy versus 13.so im still happy

" Pretty much every enthusiastic Final Fantasy fan will purchase XIII on the PlayStation 3 regardless of it appearing on other platforms. "

Damn right !

Who's the best Pac, Nas, and Big. Just leave it to that.

I never said they were stupid, simply that this particular decision was not the best they could have made and that their general business plan (though fine as it is) could be improved.

Also, please do not try to turn an honest observation into some kind of attack on the American people, I have many friends in America and a few American friends here in the UK, I do not think Americans are stupid, I do however, know for a fact that they are (as I said before) generally misinformed and easily lead by the media!

I am a student of American politics so please do not try to tell me otherwise!
