Forums - Sony Discussion - MrBubbles Reviews Shadow of The Colossus

I think the vision of the develpers was beyond their ability and the ability of the system.  But they did a fantastic job with what they had.

This game is definately greater than the sum of its parts.  looking at it... game is kind of shallow and ugly.  yet, the game is amazing... visually appealing, deep, and detailed.

I dont think i will provide a numerical rating for this game.  if i did, i might feel compelled to deduct points for some things like poor animations, camera, controls.  i couldnt provide a rating that truly reflects how i feel about the game.

The developers did a great job and i would recommend this game.

It's a good thing you didn't put a numerical score on that review, or I guarantee MM would have banned you

I would do it, if I was a mod

Indeed I am on the same boat as you.

I went in search of my first Colossus and as I approached the location I was like "Hmm, where is this damn thing".

As I got closer the Colossus revealed himself to me and I witnessed this gigantic creature of epic proportions making his way towards me. The only thing going through my mind at that point was "O-M-G". I had this type of feeling.

  <---- Me.

This feeling remained from the moment I saw him, to the moments spend climbing my way up his body and ultimately until the moment I took the moving mountain down. I had this great feeling of accomplishment at that point and knew that this game was something truly special.

When a game needs so very little words to tell such a wonderful story you know you have just experienced a masterpiece.

This game still holds up even to this day's graphical standards, it is a game that will undoubtedly stand the test of time. Team ICO are some of the most talented in the industry and anyone who has the opportunity to experience this game should go ahead, do themselves and favor, and do so.

For user reviews, just go to the games page, and then write a review. There is a thread about it

Anyway, I was watching my brother play Shadow of the Collousus, and it just looked a bit rubbish graphically, and that did put me off playing it myself, but still an impressive game nonetheless. Hopefully they can re-release it with a next-gen coat of paint

Poor animations? I still find the animation of Aggro the best "horse animation" to date.

On topic, I agree with the general sentiment of this thread.
To summarize my opinion, I believe it is the "best" game, ever. It really provides an experience I can't say any other game I've played has duplicated or surpassed.

I'll hopefully be writing a review shortly, if time permits.

Was he playing on an HDTV?

When I pop the game into my PS3 and play it my HDTV the game for some reason does not look as good as it did with the PS2 on my old SDTV.

Guillermo Del Toro (creator of Pan's Labyrinth) said that Ico and Shadow of the Collosus are the only video games ever created that he would consider as "Masterpieces".

Indeed it is probably one the greatest, if not the greatest game ever.
