Forums - Gaming - What other somewhat older games would you like to see get a long-after-release expansion like Witcher 3? (And what should they do)

With Witcher 3 getting an expansion 12 years after its initial release, what are some other game you think should get a similar revisitation, and what would you like to see them do with it?

I always wanted an expansion to Breath of the Wild where you play Zelda rebuilding the kingdom after the climactic fight. Something in the vein of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King.

Does Half-Life 2: Episode Three still count? Anyway, I don't think there's a lot of games I care about that would benefit from additional content in a big way.

Interestingly Grim Dawn, a game I've played quite a bit, just got an expansion a month ago. The game itself was released out of Early Access in 2016, and the previous expansion was released in 2018, so that was quite a long gap. The game was already supposed to be finished, and the recently released expansion was announced only in 2023. I wouldn't necessarily mind seeing even more expansions though... although that's already a lot of content, so maybe a new game would be better.

I guess Left 4 Dead 2 would benefit a lot from e.g. two more campaigns. At this point I'd be open to a third game as well, but an expansion would do just fine too. I don't know where it would fit story-wise though, since the campaigns are actually surprisingly well connected.

Metal Gear Solid V would definitely benefit from an expansion. It ended so abruptly.

That feels more like a spinoff.

I’ll take it either way!

Multiplayer for the Mass Effect Legendary Edition would be nice.

We need one last expansion for Dead Space to finish the story. Maybe it could be like the final mission of Halo Reach if a happy ending is really out of the question.

Metal Gear Solid 5 needs an ending. Maybe it could be something on the scale of Ground Zeroes, functioning as a tech demo while tying up a loose end.

I’m not going to say no to more Cyberpunk. I’ve always said that the one thing the game could use is more things to do off-mission. Make it an option to drive around town with NPCs or romance options with long dialogue, meet up in local hotspots for drinks, that sort of thing.

Obligatory reference to Half-Life Episode 3 being long overdue.

I'd actually really like to see extra BOTW/TOTK content too, though personally I would rather see a new landmass to explore, so I can get more of that thrilling sense of discovery I got from first playing BOTW.
