Firebush's thread about $100 for a game got me thinking; what is the most you've ever spent on a gaming-related purchase? And was it worth it?

A PS5 Pro for .. ahh £700. On launch, no not even close but after the PSSR2 update then yeah for sure it’s been worth it. Even more so now that …let’s face it, by the time PS6 releases (for probably £800) the base PS5 will likely be £700+ so it’s a good investment for the future.
I forget specifically because I kinda bought it piecemeal but my current rig with a 4090 probably costed around $3k when I put it together. I use it for creative work in addition to gaming so that justified some of the extra expense.
Second most expensive would be a nice creator focused MSI laptop for around $2k (same justification).
I haven't gotten around to doing the really heavy creating I envisioned yet but they've been great for training and the gaming benefits are a nice bonus. I plan on getting my money's worth out of both for years to come.

Just bought a laptop for 220k yen. Well worth it since the same exact computer is now over 320k yen.
My current PC cost £2700 when I got it back in March last year with the 5080 being over a grand. That same build would cost me like £3500 now unless I went with lower quality RAM and storage and even then it'd still be more than 3k so I really dodged a bullet there.
Last edited by Norion - 3 days agoI bought a prebuilt pc with an I5-4670k for about £500 in 2013 iirc. That'll be my most expensive purchase.
Other than that my RTX 5060 Ti 16gb was £400.
The PC was definitely worth it, I've not really done much PC gaming recently so I've not gotten much out of the GPU purchase though. But I'll probably be keeping it for quite a while and I'm very happy with it.
Mario Kart World at £75 would be my most expensive game purchase, and no that was not worth it lmao.
PS5, which I paid R$ 3680 for the Forbidden West bundle. It was still R$ 4500 when I did and good promotions were virtually non existent, so it was instantly a great deal. Have been using it daily for over 3 and a half years now, so well worth it.
Solely on games, it was my copy of Diablo for PS1 which I paid R$ 400, considering I literally can't find a single copy on sale on any big marketplace in Brazil right now and the only site I was even able to find it is asking R$ 1550 for it... it was a good deal. To me it was worth it, one of the best games ever.
