Forums - Gaming - Effortless dopamine games like Ball X Pit, Vampire Survivors/crawlers.

I have played Ball X Pit

Yes 6 54.55%

No 5 45.45%

No but I intend to 0 0%

Total:11

All these three are different genres so I don't mean Rougelite's exclusively, what I mean are games that are really easy to play but have really high reward and are well crafted to juice up the brain in dopamine.

Balatro would be another example but something like Resogun or Nex Machina would be out of the question unless there are games like these but don't require focused effort.

8 hope people can understand what I am asking for here.

Other vampire survivors like games: megabonk, Halls of Torment. Halls of Torment is better than vampire survivors imo.

You could probably get a similar mindless dopamine gameplay by playing boomer shooters on lowest difficulty.

Yep. Halls of Torment is so much better and thanks, I didn't think of that cause I was thinking arcadey like games, I have actually have a game called Metal Eden installed, supposed to be like Doom.

... oh and now that I think on it Diablo like games would offer the same dopamine Tsunami.

Katamari, no idea why, gives me a rush when I play it. So much fun rolling random crap up into a ball.

Cheers for the rec. I vaguely remember it, I think it might be on PS plus premium on ps5.

katamari needs some skill tho and you tend to fight the controls a lot.

Anyway Idle games are my poison. Had to delete them from my phone.

This style of game is one I desperately want to understand the appeal of. What does it for you, Legit? Put it into words. Or how did you get glued initially?

For pure dopamine games I think Diablo IV is the best example. If you are playing the endgame, and not the campaign anyway. It’s literally just pushing a button to make entire screens of enemies explode, picking up endless amount of shiny loot and watching numbers go up. I kinda love it though. Not all the time, but some of the time it’s just exactly what I need.

It helps my mental health some how, Where I can't play large or story driven games cause my attention is dog shit the past 9 months but these types of games allow me to sit down for more than a few minutes. They are instantly rewarding, you don't have to waste an hour reloading a checkpoint after zoning out. They just feel good too, like it doesn't matter if it's not skill based, it feels much better than many games of skill and there is engagement here, you need to build craft and slight min maxing going on. It's not like they are completely mindless, just effortless.

Indeed, I had 550 hours on that over six months. It's the game that got me back into core gaming after a few years hiatus.I will say this though, Halls of Torment beat Diablo by a mile, it's diablo without all the fluff and constantly dumping inventory... although that is also a hook in diablos case.
