I’m thinking this year is finally the year for 3D Mario!… and a nice hefty price hike on hardware. But at least we’ll get that 3D Mario!!

Switch 1 2018 was pretty dull. Switch 2 already has a better lineup coming up 1st and 3rd party. So Switch 2 2026 will be better than Switch 2018.

Switch 2's 2026 is already better than Switch 1's 2018 just with what's been announced so far, and we still probably don't know most of the games that will be releasing this year.
2018 was honestly pretty weak.
2026 already has RE Requiem/7/Village, Pragmata, FF7R, Dispatch, Fatal Frame, 007 First Light, Orbitals, Out of Words, Monster Hunter Stories 3, The Duskbloods, South of Midnight, Indiana Jones, Fire Emblem, Yoshi, The Adventures of Elliot...

I think I prefer what's been announced for 2026 so far than Nintendo's 2018 games. Maybe about tied at the moment. Though I don't know if they'll have anything as big as Smash Bros Ultimate to announce.

Probably a lot more coming from third parties than we know as well. Monster Hunter Wilds, Forza, Microsoft Flight Simulator, I think the NHL series will finally come back to a Nintendo system this year too. Halo maybe? Insider Nate Drake has been saying it's coming.
I think Mario is happening this year, ideally you'd like to have Smash Bros. this year too, but I don't know if they can make that happen or not. Major DLC for Mario Kart that I think will seriously bolster the game I think is going to happen for sure though.

Yeah considering plenty of third party stuff is also being announced just a few months out like Dispatch and Pragmata, I expect we don't know even half of this year's third party lineup yet.
I'll say marginally because of all the unknowns, but it's probably going to be a lot better.
The third-party lineup is better. I feel like third-party took until around 2019 on Switch to really get going to the level we've seen on Switch and Switch 2.
The first-party lineup is already looking better. Smash carried Switch 2018 hard, despite some other enjoyable titles. Pokemon Gen 10 is probably coming out this year and will be Nintendo's big title. Luigi's Mansion 4 might be coming as well. Even with development overlapping, I'm still skeptical 3D Mario is coming this year. I feel like the team needs until Spring 2027 to Holiday 2027. But again, we don't know. 10 years between 3D Mario games is wild. But keep in mind Nintendo had a side-course in Bowser's Fury, some ports, and giving spotlight to other IPs. Not to mention we got a new 2D Mario that isn't another New Super Mario Bros.

PS4: 120 mil (was 100 then 130 million, then 122 million) Xbox One: 51 mil (was 50 then 55 mil)

Also, knowing Nintendo, there will be likely be at least one game announced this year that's totally out of left field and unexpected, in a way that most big publishers would never dream of. (Think Ring Fit Adventure in 2019, or Kirby Air Riders last year)

In my book I would be baffled if it could beat Switch 2018 cause Smash Bros. carried that year so hard, even just the hype leading up to it added so much. I think only Smash Bros. itself could do it or maybe Galaxy 3 with another interesting title or two.
