Honestly don't know how this makes so much money.
Nobody I know ever talks about those movies.

Avatar is perplexing to me as well. I've only seen the first one but I just found it extremely average with cutting edge CGI.

But it's massive.

Odd and yet expected at the same time. I will never understand the Avatar phenomenon, ive seen all 3 and none are particularly memorable or great.

It's a movie if you're going to watch it, it has to be in theater with the 3D glasses.  But yeah they aren't particularly good movies.

Never doubted that it would reach that much for a second!

Same here. Watched this one a little over a week ago at IMAX. It looks great, but my god it's just so banale and forgettable as far as movies go. It's a decent piece of bombastic entertainment to turn off your mind for a couple of hours and that's it.

But as a side-note, when the movie was over, and I turned around, I saw dozens of ecstatic looking children. Maybe it has a bigger impact for younger people.

So why did you go watch it?

I've seen the first one, not in a theater though. Didn't feel like watching the sequel at all. My kids haven't said a peep about Avatar either, they're teenagers anyway not children anymore.

Because Im a cinephile. I go the theatre frequently and usually try to watch every major or independent release in the cinema. I enjoy the experience of going to and being in the cinema. And its not odd that i know im probably not gonna love a movie but i still go to the cinema to watch if for nothing else than the visual spectacle, which pretty much describes my experience with most Marvel films.

I liked it a lot. I though Way of Water and Fire and Ash were both big improvements on the first Avatar film. I'm engaged with the lore now. Excited to see it develop further. That final set piece was awesome with the magnetic field.
