Forums - Nintendo - Porting dev Panic Button were behind the Switch 2 updates of several Nintendo games

It turns out that Panic Button, who made a name for themselves by porting games like Doom 2016, Doom Eternal, Wolfenstein II/Youngblood, Rocket League, and Warframe, were also behind the Switch 2 updates of games like Mario Odyssey, Mario 3D World + Bowser's Furt, NSMBUD, and ARMS:

With this and their purchase of Shiver, it looks like Nintendo is cultivating a close relationship with porting studios this gen.

I'm still waiting to see what will Nintendo do for Luigi's Mansion 3 update, as I find that to be best looking Switch 1 game.

Waiting for Pikmin and Xenoblade 3 & Xenoblade X upgrades

I guess we know who Nintendo's next accusation will be.

Yeah my thoughts too, especially in light of them acquiring Shiver a while back.

Wouldn't be at all surprised to see Ninty scoop up Panic Button in the near future.

Panic Button low-key would make a great acquisition. Both them and Shiver working on more difficult 3rd party port not in-house.

Agreed on all these, LM3 would look insane at 60fps, and Xenoblade 2 and 3 would benefit greatly from a resolution bump as both look rather soft on Switch 1.

This is something I've been wanting since the Wii U days. Nintendo working out deals with publishers of big third party games that would take more effort to port over to not just get those games, but quality and content-complete versions of those games. So many Wii U ports were complete jokes sent out to die, and while third parties tried harder on Switch, there's nothing like having a dedicated specialist on the job who's mastered the hardware and has the dedicated time and budget to get the most out of it.

Yeah, with Nintendo's systems now being hybrids that require a bit of work to get multiplats working at a decent level of quality, having porting specialists at their disposal would be a valuable resource.

Studios like Panic Button, Saber, and Virtuos did some excellent conversions on Switch 1.

In this instance, it can also lighten the load on Nintendo themselves, so that they don't need to expend precious first party manpower on stuff like Switch 2 updates of older games.

I hope they are working on doing more updates.

I'll play Luigi's Mansion 3 again if they do a 4K 1440p 60 FPS patch.
